    Lund V-hulls and skinny water

My big boat doesn't draft much more than the little boat. Surprising since one is a 1436 with a 5hp 2 stroke and the other is a 20 ft center console with a 150hp 4 stroke. I can pole both through 12" ...18" and I can use the outboard on the big boat with the jack plate all the way up. Where the...

    Opinions needed on this rig.

Kinda reminds me of the old hurricane deck boats. Those didn't do well in choppy water either.

    Solar Eclipse 2024

We got a good view of it from the upper potomac. It didn't impress the fish.

    Solar Eclipse 2024

The river here is falling as fast as it rose it looks to be do able by Monday. Fishing will still be tough and I imagine there will still be some debris coming down but it's a private boat ramp so it will alleviate concerns of being crowded. We're at like 91% totality here hopefully we get a...

    Raising transom

Absolutely you can...I've seen posts of folks filling in transoms like you have for the same reason. Your plan of sandwiching wood between 2 pieces of aluminum should work fine for what your doing. Good luck and keep us updated with the progress.

    9.9 Pees Like a Girl!

I would drop the lower unit and inspect the pump and housing. It not overheating while in a barell at idle with no load is a far different scenario than sustaining mid to high rpm with a load on it.

    Solar Eclipse 2024

The weather for eclipse day is looking good but the 3inches of rain predicted between now and Wednesday evening are going to eliminate fishing or even being on the river. Looks like we may make the 80mile trek north to Raystown or the 100 mile trek west to Deep creek lake.

    Solar Eclipse 2024

Kids are getting a half day here. Wife has off for a quick appointment in the morning so she's picking kids up at noon then meeting me at the ramp. We plan to watch it from the boat

How many of you enjoy a decent stereo in a boat?

Deep creek lake is much the same. One of my favorite stretches of the upper potomac between memorial day and labor day is packed with jet skis and wake boats. On a weekend forget it! That's why we go at night In the summer .

    Careful fishing the bridges

I don't get out on the bay near as much as I use to but I don't see tugs on these ships near as often as 10 or 20 yrs ago. Even up the elk river on thier way to the Delaware canal.

    Careful fishing the bridges

Pretty crazy all around. I use to fish the patapsco including near that bridge.

Outfitting new boat with electronics for river fishing

Also on the trolling motor battery make sure the bms in the battery is set high enough that at 100% throttle it won't trigger the bms to shut off the battery. Don't know about the minn kota you referenced but the garmin force draws 53 amps under full load. When I was researching batteries some...

Outfitting new boat with electronics for river fishing

You'll need an adapter to use the 106sv with the minn kota and it will limit frequencies and features. If this is stuff you don't have yet consider a garmin trolling motor it comes with a gt54 built in and will autopilot tracks and way points with the 106sv

What percentage of your boating is....

I use to fish and crab the Chesapeake bay a lot more before I moved to WV 8 years ago. Crab populations have really declined and dnr seems intent on regulating Rockfish to the point its not worth the hassle. This year I only have (1)3 day camping trip planned on the upper reaches of the bay...

    9.9hp Yamaha...gasping for air?

Have you tried running it on a different tank and line with fresh fuel? That will eliminate a couple possibilities. You mentioned old fuel line some of that stuff doesn't mix well with ethanol and if any fuel was left sitting in that line for all those years it could break down.

Transom through bolts... type, sealing question.

I've always used marine grade silicone on transom bolts. Only place I've used 5200 is on seats that have stripped out threads and mounting a transducer board to the transom. 5200 is permanent the only way I know to remove is with an adhesive remover that 3m sells and even then it's not easy.

What percentage of your boating is....

Are we counting brackish tidal rivers as salt? I hit the tidal potomac and the susquehanna flats/ turkey point area of the Chesapeake bay a couple times a year but it's maybe 10% at best of my trips.
