    Battery and charger

It is the recommended method (from the mfg) if you don't have a charger that resets the BMS. In fact, mfg of my batteries recommended it to reset my 20Ah accessory battery by connecting it to my 100Ah. So no issues.

    Battery and charger

Same. Had the advantage of being a very early adopter flying RC airplanes with LiPos and that got me in the habit of not keeping the batteries fully charged.

    Battery and charger

Full charge can be an even bigger problem. It's always best to charge your Lithium batteries the night before heading out. When you get back, unless they're deeply discharged, leave them where they are and wait for your next outing to charge. And the BMS shouldn't be the problem. Self discharge...

    Battery and charger

Here's that post Post in thread 'Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?' https://www.tinboats.net/threads/lithium-battery-question-50ah-lifep04-for-a-55-thrust-minn-kota.50509/post-500212

    Battery and charger

In a different thread I posted Amp draw at motor speed setting for a 12V Minnkota with 100Ah LiFePo4 battery. Could help you decide how big you need to go. I wouldn't worry about the 50% charge for storage if you're talking about week to week or even monthly storage. Anywhere from 30-70% SOC...

Anyone ever use a "Tiny Tach"?

Have one on my Tohatsu 9,8. Works great. My brother put them on his small power equipment just for the usage meter to know when to do service. Can't speak for the knockoffs, but the genuine article works well.

    Interesting week

Love perch. Maybe the best is just whatever you've got frying?

    Interesting week

If you want to get adventurous, this book has great recipes and instructions on cleaning different fish.

    Interesting week

Crappie is so good. Bluegill might be better.

    Interesting week

If you don't consider crappies, perch, and bluegill as game fish (which is a legit take), I agree. But clear water northern is amazingly good if you know how to filet around the Y bone.

    Interesting week

I think there is such focus on walleye in MN that we tend to let the smallies go and they get big because of it. I don't know anyone who eats them. I've caught numerous over 20-22" but never bigger. And it wasn't a bad walleye weekend, either!

Do I really "need" a casting deck?

Good opener. Night before and morning after pics.

    Interesting week

Nice. Just spent 2 weeks in northern MN. 19" on this guy (but no catfish up there--although the walleye bite was excellent the first week.)

Do I really "need" a casting deck?

I've got a 1966 14' Lund. When I fish alone, I can stand on my low bow floor (about 3" off the natural V) and cast comfortably but even stepping over seats is an iffy proposition for this reasonably agile 60yo. There is no way two people could both stand comfortably. Even the shift caused by a...

Best outfit online to order a outboard ?

Yes. Now that you mention it, availability was also an issue they mentioned and again, it was Online Outboards and Tohatsu Direct that my guy said buys them all up. Because the Cabela's in these parts never have them in stock.

Best outfit online to order a outboard ?

When I bought my Tohatsu 9.8 I tried two local dealers and they both said they can't match the online prices so they don't even stock them. But they're happy to work on them if ever needed. I even offered to pay them what they needed to make a profit and they weren't interested. I found it weird...

    Experienced opions on my setup

14' Lund Fisherman from 1966. I fished for years with just a 35# thrust electric in back. It does limit your range for sure, and you have to keep a sharp eye on the weather, but it handled pretty stiff winds with ease. The big issue, as another poster said, is you're limited to about 3.5mph so...

    What is a Jon Boat?

I thought maybe it would be worth seeing if there are any "authoritative" definitions online. Not really. Of the dozens I looked through, all said small and flat bottomed. Most said lightweight. Some (about half, give or take) said square bow and stern. Fewer said specifically aluminum, others...

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

Any issues with alternator charging that lithium battery? I considered that option for my 9.9 but since I couldn't find any information on it charging with the motor's alternator I went with a small motorcycle battery. Curious if you have solid info on working with the alternator or it's just...

    Front bench removal 14’ aluminum

If all you do is troll small lakes with an electric, don't worry about it-it'll be fine. If you've got a bigger motor and pound through waves at speed--don't do it.
