Need your help again. How does this work?

Is there no spray bar or nozzle in the front tank? It has to fill from somewhere. If someone removed it, there would be a hole in the tank somewhere.

    Engine height

As mentioned, someone drilled the holes wrong. The bottom hole should be near the top of the slot. With how it is setup now, you have no adjustment. Unfortunately, short of a welder there is not easy way to fill those holes and redrill them.

Need your help again. How does this work?

They're more than likely fed by the same pump. Could be that someone has disconnected the fill hose to use it as dry storage.

What have you been up to lately?

I have a Spartan, the hydros are serviceable, but the little filters (about as big as your thumb) are $60 each! Couple that with the synthetic engine oil they require, makes for a pretty expensive service.

Anyone out there running low compression motors?

Compression is defined by a taking a fixed amount of air and pushing it into a smaller space. If you vary the size of that space, you get more or less pressure, given the same amount of air. Most gasoline engines are in the 9-13:1 range, diesels are 16-20:1 or more. They are taking 9-20 units of...

Anyone out there running low compression motors?

The placement of the valve is what matters. As long as it is close to the very end of the hose, the reading should be close to correct. Anything after the valve just becomes a holding tank of sorts, as Pappy mentioned, the cylinder will eventually pump it up. Any amount of volume before that...

Anyone out there running low compression motors?

The type of tester can make a difference, if you are using an adapter with a long hose that has the schrader valve in the middle, it is not going to give you a precise reading, the volume of that hose is effectively added to the combustion chamber, decreasing the compression ratio. It makes less...

    Water uplift tube extension?

Some of the older OMCs had copper water tubes. They wire isolated from the aluminum by rubber grommets though. You want a very snug fit on the water tube. It is designed to seal perfectly or close to it.

    Missing aluminum boat

Boats of that age likely had styrofoam. Squirrels and other rodents have probably relocated most of whatever foam was in there originally. Best to get it out as soon as possible, once it gets silted in recovery will be much more difficult.

    Hub bearing sizing

I have a spindle welded to the frame of my trailer with a spare tire, hub, bearings, the whole shootin' match bolted on and ready to go. Just don't try to use it as a step.

    Hub bearing sizing

Most boat trailers will use 1" or 1 1/16" bearings, although stepped spindles do exist. I have seen grease seals that vary on the OD where they fit into the hub, but from what I've seen the race on the spindle is more or less the same.

How to fill small hole in back of transom?

Nut and a bolt or a rivet would do just fine.

Help me figure out what studs I need

There are two studs listed in the exhaust/mid section housing diagram that appear to belong to those holes, part number for them is 16-56295. 7/16 diameter but no mention of thread pitch. It looks like your long studs may be stainless, it's known to gall. I'd get a tap and try to chase the...

    Traveling with boat in tow

Not doubting him, but I sure wouldn't want to live there. My insurance for four vehicles is about $140 a month (full coverage on my newest F150, the rest are liability only), and my property insurance for three rental properties is only $150 a month. Property taxes (Missouri taxes everything...

    Traveling with boat in tow

The one time I did it, I rented an Airbnb in a decent area. Like most on here I always remove the graphs and lock them up. Everything else is bolted down or not worth stealing in the first place. I was also able to make an arrangement with the owners so that I could leave the boat for a couple...

Advice for removing pour foam with wire wheel

I imagine a cup brush in a grinder would make pretty short work of it, I've always found the stranded type to not last very long and they fling little wires everywhere. The knotted style holds up better, but can be pretty tough on aluminum if you aren't careful.

Best way to charge and maintain batteries?

I also think it's a mistake to leave those chargers plugged in 24/7. They certainly aren't cheap. I let mine charge overnight and then unplug it in the morning. If it's been a long time, I will plug it in for a little while before leaving on the next trip, usually doesn't take long to top up.

    Driving a Tesla

You remember the ni-cad battery drills we had 20 years ago? Heavy, clunky, didn't last worth a crap. Current lithium tools will blow them out of the water. I feel like that's the phase EVs are in right now. In a decade they might be something.

    Trailer Setup Help

From what I've seen, this is how most modern trailers are setup. The rollers are just there to guide the bow up, and don't really contact the stern at all. I had an older tilt trailer in the past that carried most of the weight on the keel rollers. It was a pretty rickety setup all around, but...

    Spark Plugs Getting Scarce

I got burnt by some fake Denso plugs on Amazon, but that was back in 2018. Figured it was just an Amazon problem, they've been known to do that for a long time. Crazy that it's not just limited to them now.
