The boat I use on electric lake is a light Jon boat alumacraft 15/42, before that it was a 14 foot Jon , same motor. The water is calm for the most part, so yeah huge difference between that and your scenario. I’ll remember that advise if I ever crack that motor open again. Though I’m not sure...

I do it weekly. Run my 24 volt 80 pound minnkota terrova on 10 for at least 40 minutes straight, fish around for a few hours then do the same on the way back. Using LiFePo4 batteries. Only had the one problem a couple years ago. Fried red cable inside the head. I pulled the armature this winter...

I can say from experience 🙁 that if you don’t have a circuit breaker on your power source at some point, you certainly can fry the wires in a minnkota terrova. Smelled it first, then the smoke. Was an easy fix.

Honestly I can skip baits way better sitting in the back of my jon boat than I can off the casting deck of my crestliner. I can slip baits in almost anywhere. But for pitching, yes casting deck is an advantage.

12 foot is a small boat to build a cabin on. I wouldn’t encourage it. JMHO.

I wouldn’t worry about it. The charger in my crestliner is almost touching the tank.
