Folding Evinrude 3 hp yachtwin on marketplace

Yes sir.....they were affectionately called "Knuckebusters" That particular design incorporated a spring at the bottom of the knob that retracted the knob as soon as you let go of it plus they designed the scalloped out recess to further lessen the chance of being caught by it. The originals...

And.....it is not a "new" design. Folding engines were produced off and on by Evinrude, Elto, and others from around 1929! Back then the engineering that went in to do that was all done by hand including drawings and calculations and the creation of each wood plug, then molds, etc. Here are two...

'75 Evinrude 9.9 Thrust Mount Repair

It is not a question of it being solid....that is not the issue. Too often the top of the grommets are melted and folded over the water tube which will restrict water flow. Do what you want but am telling you this is the time to fix it.

That grommet that comes with the water pump is not the same grommet as the ones at the top of the tube.

89 Evinrude 90 HP V4 hard starting issue?

Same exact primer between the two engines. Larger engines require a bit more fuel hence the difference in 3 vs 5. Like you said each engine is a bit different and its perfectly okay to tailor how much fuel you feed it and when via the primer.

89 Evinrude 90 HP V4 hard starting issue?

Give it a good honest try. May take a week or so since you indicate you do not start it every day. Let us know and we may have to take a troubleshooting route.

89 Evinrude 90 HP V4 hard starting issue?

The engine is not hard starting at all. Never has been. When OMC went to the fuel primer system instead of the choke system the engine has to have a different starting procedure. Let that sink in a minute. I have dealt with customers with your frustrations for decades and once they understand...

'75 Evinrude 9.9 Thrust Mount Repair

It all starts with the model number then go to marineengine and get into their parts books. You will need one or both grommets at the tops of the water tubes that go into the plate below the powerhead, powerhead base gasket, and any other parts that are worn out. You will need to be the judge of...

'75 Evinrude 9.9 Thrust Mount Repair

You have the exhaust housing and your inner exhaust tube. Exhaust tube indicates the engine is or was a 9.9hp. Now would be a good time to update to the 15hp megaphone. Worth up to a couple hundred RPM usually. There is no kit so it is individual parts and part numbers. Do not forget to replace...

    07 mercury tiller

Not a difficult job and if done thoroughly you should see a better starting engine. Richen your idle mixture a bit to aid in starting and you may not have to use as much choke to keep it running. Make sure your thermostat is operable as well. Helps idle quality.

    92 NS5B

Had to look up the engine. Single Cyl 5hp 2-stroke. I would like to see around 75# or so. Anything above that is great. 5000rpm operating range. I would imagine the engine will exhibit a bit of vibration being a single so be prepared if you haven't already run it.

There is a general rule of thumb on compression numbers. Cylinders should be within 10% of each other on YOUR gauge. Manufacturers rarely ever state a number in service manuals due to the wide fluctuation in readings of various compression gauges.

Looking for fuel/oil mix ratio options

When you call Yamaha keep this in mind. You are calling customer service personnel. Customer service is as much marketing driven as it is technically driven. The company mantra will no doubt be to tell you 100:1. When I worked for OMC both in Field service and engineering, engineering was...

Looking for fuel/oil mix ratio options

I believe Mr. Giggles pretty much nailed this on the head. 75 years plus ago outboards ran on a 16:1 ratio with no thermostat to help out idle quality or rid the engine of moisture. If the fuel/air ratio was set properly they did not run rough, smoke excessively, nor did they have a spark plug...

They are great running engines. They were designed to be able to be stowed in cars, planes, float planes, etc. they are the tried and true twin cylinder 3hp engines produced primarily by Johnson/Evinrude. They are super smooth running, can idle down to the point you can place a finger on the...

Got that right......Eustis and Lake County was magical for decades. Now.....Orlando is moving up and folks tired of where they lived up North are moving in. Traffic has gotten bad enough that Lesa and I said "Hell with this" and bought a house up on lake Talquin, just west of Talahassee. 10,800...
