Level the floor side to side, but what about from front to back?

Of course you want to do that right at the launch, preferably with your bow hook still attached to the trailer...

Need help deciding upon a motor

No - you'll still have to charge it between trips, the gas motor doesn't run long enough to recharge the battery from the drain of graphs & lighting, even though in theory it could. The amount of gas you'd burn just to run your outboard as a generator long enough would not make sense. It's a...

    Steering stuck

I thought of that but I don't think there is much room in the tube for the zerk to protrude...though thinking about it more I could just grind the end of the fitting to match the contour of the inside of the tube couldn't I? Certainly preferable to having welding sparks anywhere near the motor...

Level the floor side to side, but what about from front to back?

If you want to get really nerdy and get it perfect go out on a flat calm day and pull your drain plug. let enough water fill the bottom to where you can mark a level line in the side before plugging it back in. Set your deck however high evenly above that line.

    Steering stuck

I was surprised the OEM nut for the tilt tube didn't have a grease fitting on either of my motors. Any reason why you couldn't drill a hole in the side of the tilt tube and weld a nut on the outside over it to hold the grease fitting?

Need help deciding upon a motor

Trying not to get too verby in the response, but you're comparing two totally different machines. This is not just a 5hp difference that mostly comes into play at the top end of the RPM range like I achieved by converting an older 2 stroke 20hp to a 25hp with a carb change. There are a number of...

    OEM foam in seats

All it takes is one @$s hat in a ballast carrying ski-boat to buzz you too close and you can take water over the bow. That foam is the difference between having a swamped boat giving you a nuisance getting back to shore vs. a thousand dollars or more worth of motor, boat and gear sitting on the...

    Depth finder quick connect harness

I have mine in a roll made inside a section of PET cable sleeving. Keeps it in a nice neat loop out of the way but didn't involve cutting anything. PM me your address and I'll mail you a few feet of it, I bought a 100' roll for making rod socks to go with the custom rods I build, so I've got...

This is the problem I'm having with the 16', I've been at it so long I'm starting to change little things and end up dragging the whole process out...

Tiller extension and kill switch for 25hp merc

I converted mine to a remote setup and needed to wire a safety/kill switch all the way up to the remote controls - I see no reason why you couldn't add a kill switch to yours. If I remember to I'll test it to see if it's normally open or normally closed when I get home tonight.

Possible - yes Advisable for an aluminum boat - absolutely

    Battery tender

I have an external smart charger but it's a basement dweller as it's not waterproof. Looking into the onboard tender/chargers is dizzying. The Noco Genious ones keep coming up in my searches with favorable reviews. I saw the ProMariner reviews on Cabelas' were...less than complimentary. I still...

    Sizing a Trolling Motor

The edge came with a trash prop so they could make another $20 sale on the upgrade they offer - unfortunately the weedless wedge one does help it a lot and spending the extra $20 is basically a necessity. The foot pedal needs to be in a recessed tray or it KILLS your knees if you stand on the...

Side imaging and shallow water. Perfect combo.

SI is also great for positioning the boat off a weed edge in the dark. Locating fish not so much, at least around here where you have such rocky bottoms it's hard to distinguish fish suspended over rock from the rock when the shadows are so repetitive - hence my surprise at the detail of those...

Side imaging and shallow water. Perfect combo.

I didn't see the caption that those were alligator gar on the right initially and was wondering what I was doing wrong that you were able to see such detail in shallow water! Very cool images just the same.

    Alumacraft 1436LT Conversion

Finishing up on the 16' boat and losing the argument with my wife to keep this boat has left me getting ready to sell it. I'm using the Terrova on the 16' so this will be listed for sale with a motorguide bow mount, the steering wheel/remote controls/mariner outboard have been removed to get...

    Any Honda experts?

Huh - you're right, no honda's on Marineengine.com...wierd. Boats.net has them though. I've got a mothballed 15hp that I need to bring back to life someday, it's heavy for being a 4 stroke - weighs the same as my 25hp 2 stroke, hence the lack of drive to get it going.

    12 volt vs 24 volt

Probably on the upper limits of what the TM will take without burning out running 16V through it.

    12 volt vs 24 volt

NW NC? French Broad river upstream of Asheville? You'll want a 24 volt if that's what you're fishing putting out as much thrust as possible. I haven't fished it from a boat, but it's definitely faster than the river I fish up here in CT where I figure my 12v 55lb setup can be maxed out.

    Any Honda experts?

What are the serial #'s? Check out the parts diagrams on www.marineengine.com or www.boats.net If the housing part #'s are the same you're probably fine, you can dig deeper from there if need be to make sure the driveshafts are the same, but I imagine they would be if the housings are the same...
