Yup, but can't live in fear.

    Springtime coldwater experiences

I have spent some time trolling this spring with not much success. Fish have been few and far between. Winnipesaukee rainbow, the only fish for the entire day: Sunapee lake trout, not bad for a 3 hour outing:

    Haddock off NH

Few weekends ago my buddy and I took advantage of an abnormally clam day on the Atlantic and set out for some haddock. Filled the cooler, could have had our limit but ran out of cooler space. Picture shows how calm, we are 5 miles out and it's 11am. Not typical.

    Slow theft

There is only one, sure fire way to combat thieves, and I employ it to the fullest. A very good, constantly updated and complete insurance policy. Stop worrying about your stuff getting stolen and just insure the ever loving ---- out of it. My boat is insured for about $10k higher than what it...

    Evinrude E-tec

BRP's software interface with the etec will tell you everything you need to know and more. Try to see if a shop has the time to simply run diagnostics for you.

Mercury outboard carb swap for increase HP

I agree, if you want a 40 and the remote control, sell it and go to a 40. You'll be happier in the long run.

Max Trout the Law Allows is Called a LIMIT!

Now that's a good day of trolling! Nice work.

    Question on nada guide pricing

Is the boat a 2016 as well? I'm guessing not, don't think Starcraft was still making the SF14 at that time. Anyway, I've seen similar for sale WAY higher than that suggested pricing. I've seen 25 year old, 14' open aluminum boats with 25 year old motors listing for $5000. It's crazy right now...

She's already had two outings on the vessel, everything is working well! I'm just waiting for the fish pictures!

    Difficulty with New Tohatsu

I have not checked the valves but that's a good idea. It does start better/easier after it's fully warmed up, so might make sense.

    best wood for bunks

The ultimate bunk boards are great, but I just use standard, 2x4 or 2x6 BC grade lumber. They are a consumable like brake pads and tires.

Boat prices and life in general

If 900 acres was the biggest lake you typically fish, I'd be very tempted to make an electric only boat with a very good i-pilot motor. Esepcially if you are primarily fishing for warmwater species.

    Difficulty with New Tohatsu

I have that same exact motor as my kicker, just 14 years older and with a Mercury sticker on the cowl and all the things you say are correct. If you don't get it idling on that first time it kicks over, it's a nightmare to get going after that. I wish I had more encouraging things to say, but I...

    Bent prop shaft

Oh, well there is actually somewhere you could make money. In NH we don't title anything older than 10 years.

What kind of fishing do you do and what bodies of water are you typically on?

Northshore MA - Engine Tune Up / Repower

Yep, learn how to do it yourself. It's the way to go anyway! Even though I can certainly afford to have other people work on my stuff, I don't. You can't find good help anymore and no one seems to have your best interest at heart. Most people are just there for a paycheck. My two main hobbies...

    Lithium batteries

Depends on how you use the batteries. For me, the initial outlay is big but in the long run would cost me a lot less money, which is why I am shopping for them now. I use my 36volt Ulterra to coldwater fish a lot different than most you guys that mostly warmwater or fish in the saltwater. I use...

    Bent prop shaft

Yeah, a late 90's 2 stroke, 25 horse remote with controls in good running condition with a decent prop would be probably $900 on Craigslist up here.

Nope, she's been married for 20 years! But he doesn't fish and she is addicted.

    Bent prop shaft

I suggested she look for another motor, in fact I urged her to look for another boat. But the math doesn't really agree. The new OEM prop shaft only cost $362. I took the lower unit apart and checked the gear set and driveshaft and it's all in perfect shape. The motor runs very well and the...
