Low compression will affect slow speed the most. Try a decarb and keep fingers crossed, but if comp stays that low, just run it until it dies. Get a small gas trolling motor for slow speed if you need it. 3-5 hp is all you need...or, time for a rebuild on the 70 !

Your 36 will work fine but is minimal power. If your budget is tite, then use it until you can get something bigger. Electric motors only go so fast no matter how much thrust you have. Jumping up to a 50# thrust will not gain much speed, barely any, but it will get you moving faster...

How will you be using your electric motor ?? Rough or smooth water? Trolling or ocasional positioning ?

You might consider getting the quick attach mounting plate, easier to install and when finnished, remove one thumb screw and the entire trolling motor slides out for safe or seasonal keeping.

Could very well be a quick release mount, have only owned two bow mounts and both had a similar mounting plate....remove one screw and the entire trolling motor slides back and out of the mount screwed to the deck.

Looking at the way the seam's are riveted, it looks like a newer model, so perhaps a mistake or typo on the registration papers ??
