Powering your home during power outages

Looking around at the average folks today and the amount of common sense people display, .....I can only imagine the " safety" manual that would be required that the average Joe would never read....ouch..makes my head hurt thinking about all the house fires that could happen !!!

Anyone else admit to an OOPSIE!

If you can get your boat moving, it will suck that water out pretty quick ! Especially if the bilge pump is running as well....I have tested that on more than one ocassion !

    Looking at a 14' Skiff w/ 25HP Yammy -?

I only got away from a tiller because of my bad shoulders. In my younger days the tiller was awesome. As I got older with arthritis and bad rotator cuffs, I found a steering wheel was much easier. Make sure the glass bull structure is in good shape ( no wood rot inside the glass hull)..

    TriHull vs Deep V hulls

Trihulls have not been made in decades. They were popular in calmer waters for their stability but a really rough ride in choppy water. semi Vs do well in small chop and deep Vs are great for serious waves. With a bad back, any chop will give you a rough ride. The biggest issue with a...

Where do most people go to sell a used aluminum boat these days?

We all know there is no such thing as a "good" boat for 300 dollars. I have met numerous people in my coating life that thought they have found great boats for little money....ask that question again in a couple years. To many folks think once they fix up a boat, it won't ever need any more...

'83 Sea Nymph SC-170 Full Restoration

Very nice !! You are fortunate to have skilled help availiable....my boat is similar to yours in size and layout. I found my bimini top to be to tall and act as a wind sail when underway. We are shorter folks at 5'6" so I lowered my top to just clear our heads when standing at the helm. Made...

Where do most people go to sell a used aluminum boat these days?

Some real horror stories here for boaters...I can say that over my lifetime I have moved to get away from restrictive rules and regulations. If I can't enjoy my hobbies at fair and reasonable costs, then it is time to relocate !

Powering your home during power outages

I was quoted about one gallon per hour or 25 gallons a day to keep a propane genny running to maintain our household in an emergency. At around 1.69 per gallon that is less than 50 bucks per day, not cheap, but better than not having any power ! Very few comforts are gonna be cheap, but also...

Powering your home during power outages

As it is supposed to be, but in extreme cold, NG looses pressure according to the local gas company. However, I am sure there are areas were the pressure is better or worse than others.

Powering your home during power outages

You won't have a problem as long as the NG service company pushes the pressure up by adding propane when the temps drop below O degrees. Our area gas supplier sends out notices each year explaining how this works at the beginning of each heating season. We had NG for years with no problems...

Powering your home during power outages

My propane line that feeds my home, with heat, hot water and gas dryer is 1/8" diameter.....gas company claims I could run two homes off that same 1/8" line ! My propane water heater recovers far faster than my NG water heater ever did.. Our clothes dryer is far quicker than our NG dryer ever...

Powering your home during power outages

In my area, propane is fairly cheap compared to other fuels, we have a number of refineries in our area which helps lower the propane cost. Here in the cold winter the NG folks have to inject propane into the NG lines to keep pressure up, otherwise the NGwill stop flowing with enough pressure...
