    Motorguide the latest to fail

The W45 I have is still in good working condition. I'm going to wait it out and see what happens in the spring. I tend to keep things for quite awhile, so want to have good parts supply. I might have to switch to MK.

    Motorguide the latest to fail

From the MG site: Notice All future trolling motor production is transitioning to the Lowrance® and Simrad® brands to create a unified, cutting-edge fishing experience. As a result, manufacturing under the MotorGuide® brand has ceased. Ongoing support for MotorGuide owners will continue as...

    Motorguide the latest to fail

I saw this a few weeks ago and was disappointed. My Xi3 has been doing great. Was watching the used market for a 55lb Xi3 or Xi5 and add the pinpoint system to it. This was to replace a W55. I had a Pinpoint system in my Amazon cart. It was around $350. It quickly went to $500 and out of...

    Can't Get Out!

Myself, I’d like some rain before our Mid- Nov end of season runs.

    BRP sells marine division

I agree with the earlier post, that BRP is probably hurting with declining snowmobile sales. Maybe the ATV and SXS markets are stronger. They did come out with their own version of a pontoon boat, the Sea Doo Switch.

    BRP sells marine division

I think they use all Mercury.

    BRP sells marine division

These days, most of the boat companies are owned by Yamaha or Mercury, which put their motors on them. I can see that happening with the BRP boat brands, but the Evinrude would be closed out or sold.

    Princecraft Rant - Amarok Recall

I see no benefit for the mfg in putting out a false notice. The boat was apparently designed without enough flotation to float when fully capsized. Maybe that court case exposed the issue? I wouldn't worry about the plastic caps. I've seen them in different boats and bet they can be...

    Solid state marine battery

There are car companies working on these types of batteries. All still in prototype phase. Nothing ready for production. I'd be surprised that a company would come out with it first, in a marine application. The promise is longer range, more dense, and faster charging. I'm sure it has to...

    2022 G3 17' CCJ - Rigging

Here we are in Mid-October and the water level is even lower than our trip in September and clearer. We could see bottom in 10’ of water. Once the sun burned thru the fog, it was like fishing in a sterile aquarium. Water temp was 50-52 degrees. Two days of fishing but we did split each day...

Powering your home during power outages

It is 4 wire, twist lock plug on the generator and where the cable plugs into the wall. Seperate terminals for neutral and ground. Before I wired it to the main panel and ran extension cords, the generator was attached to a ground rod. So you want neutral and ground to be bonded at the...

    LDUBS OK?

Very unlike him to go 10 days without posting. I think he was having some issues and hope everything is OK. Even better would be that he is on a long fishing trip.

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

How did it do with cavitation on the waves on the lakes? If the rpm is working, I'd call your display mfgs tech support. There is probably a setting to change. Yes, I had to connect a wire on the motor to get the trim to register. Might be two pink wires??? Found it searching the net...

Powering your home during power outages

When I ran the generator in to the panel, I had to remove the ground-neutral bonding at the generator, since it is bonded at the panel. To use it in stand alone mode for using the 110 and 220 outlets, I have a twist lock plug that ties the neutral and ground back together. It has been too long...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

Glad it has been a good season with your new river sled. :) What do you have for a display with the NMEA2K and is it displaying other data? It just worked when I hooked it up to the SIMRAD.

    TriHull vs Deep V hulls

IMO, not for "big" water, but you might consider looking at some of the fishing style pontoon boats. Especially for fishing with kids. Very stable and room for them to move around. Comfortable seating positions. Can go relatively shallow, but you don't want to be scraping the toons along...

    TriHull vs Deep V hulls

Sounds like the St Lawrence River but narrower.

    TriHull vs Deep V hulls

It has been a long time since I have been in a tri-hull. I think the few that I have been in, were made by MFG. A nice stable platform at rest, but pound in chop and waves. Flatish type turning. I wouldn't recommend any fiberglass boat for shallow river running.

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

Yes, I have never had one fail. They work and relatively inexpensive compared to the BT. I think they are the lowest cost solution that provides a very reliable connection. That is why I used them in prior boats.
