    NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway

I'd be interested to know if there are any perceived delays inserting the wifi vs gauges on the FF. I have a display connected to a NMEA2K network and get very good response on tach and trim adjustment. In some ways it would be nice to have "bigger" gauges on an ipad or such.

marking holes in hull for repair later

Wax pencil or crayon will work with the water seaping/dripping out. But reusing the boat before fixing can wear it off.

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

For my recent wiring, used a crimper tool for these size lugs. In the past, filled the lug pocket with solder and melted with propane torch, then inserted stripped wire that had electrical flux on it. Works but takes a little more effort/coordination. Your batteries are probably 5/16” lugs...

How’s the weather been this boating season in your area?

We have had a wet summer, here in the northeast. But, the last month has been very dry. We went on our first “fall” outing on the river, last Friday. Water was low and very clear. We took the jet thru some of the longest and shallowest runs ever. Our range was significantly limited, in...

    MotorGuide Katana Two-Blade Propeller

We have it on our 70lb Xi3, but did not run the weedless prop long enough to say if the claims are valid. We do get some vibration when on high power in heavy current and have seen some reports on this. I can say, that we had only 80ah LA batteries and even with full days of fishing and using...

New live sonar that doesn't reqired a FF

I have a good number of gizmos from China that require an app. Unfortunately many never get a much needed update to fix bugs or to just be compatible with newer iOS versions. I have an old iPad I don’t update for that reason. This new company would have to prove themselves before I would...

Yea, they are going to let us all know where your “secret” spots are! :D.

    2022 G3 17' CCJ - Rigging

My son sent me some clips from trip, but they are too large to post here. :(. Don’t want to do the Utube thing.

    Jonboat Project

We have a MG Xi3 with the Pinpoint GPS system. We routinely fish close to bridge abutments, boulders, etc, with a good amount of current. Low bridges can cause problems by blocking some of the satellites. If you loose WAAS, which is geosynchronous at the equator, accuracy is diminished...

    2022 G3 17' CCJ - Rigging

We went out on our first fall trip, which was more like a mid-summer one. Water was very low and clear. Don’t think we have ever seen it that clear. We were restricted on where we would dare to go. We did have some of our longest shallow water runs. You can feel the pressure wave as you go...

    Baking Soda as aluminum polish?

I wonder how long it would take with toothpaste and toothbrush? :D :D :D I use to clean spoons and spinner blades with it. ;)

    Engine height

It looks like the motor is all the way down on the transom. If so, the upper hole were drilled one increment too low. If the lower hole is drilled to the top of the slot, would in go thru the wood? The best height depends on the boat, motor, the load, and how you plan to use it. One inch...

    1973 Monark transom/stress crack repair

Yea, it is looking like it was a replacement. Do you have a wood plate on the outside of the transom, where the motor mounts? If you do, it is likely that the inside is 3/4" and outside is 3/4", to make up the typical 1.5" transom. I have a lite 14' boat that the transom is like that. Once...

    1973 Monark transom/stress crack repair

I think C channel would be harder to get a tight fit. Does the transom wood go all the way to the floor? It looks like it does from the pic, which is unusual, but I not familiar with our boat model. If it does, my guess it has been replaced by a prior owner.

    What a day... (Long Rant)

I'm glad you got it worked out and he has a very usable fishing platform. :) Nice LM! Hope he puts many more in the boat.

    2022 G3 17' CCJ - Rigging

I was able to run the 6awg wire yesterday. It is all 6awg from batteries to the plug. I left the 8awg in the boat, since it is tied down in area that is not accessable. We should be on the river Friday for its first real test.

What to watch out for: 1990(ish) 15hp Johnson

Most likely the gauge. Also, carb should be wide open. I do three revolutions, but not sure if that is a "standard".

    1973 Monark transom/stress crack repair

Yes, the typical 1648 would have a max hp more than 15. Probably 25-30. Mine has a 40hp max. Yea, she has seen better days. If you haven't, do a leak check so you have a good overall assessment before diving into the transom. Is the transom wood 1.5" thick? My concern with the angle, is...
