    Trolling motor wiring ?s

I assume your are talking about a bow mounted trolling motor because of the wiring Extension. A 55lb will work well with most 16’ tinnies. I have used 45lb on 16’ Jon boat to good effect. A 36lb might be too small, depending on boat, conditions, and how you use it. Minnkota has a wiring...

Pressure treated wood used for floor deck!!!

I think that makes a bigger mess in the long run. It is the contact points that are the main concern, and would need to lift the floor to add any barrier.

    Cleaning aluminum hull

Thats what I hear to use on my pontoons, but haven't needed it yet. The scum line wasn't that bad from last year. I used some "Iron Out" which took it right off. It has some acid in it, so need to rinse thoughly. Many say to put "Shark Hide" over it once you clean it. I put a Dep glossy...

    Best fishing poles.

As long as he didn't throw the pieces out, I believe they will replace it. :) I did drown a st croix, once, but was able to retrieve it.

If you go with coosa, I'd like to hear what your spans were and what thickness and weight you used.

    Water uplift tube extension?

Now that you say that, I do recall seeing copper tube in some outboards. Can't remember brand or model at this time. The bushings must prevent corrosion.

    POST YOUR PIC'S FISHING GALLERY.......

Everyone needs to do at least one trip to Northern Ontario. Mine was on the other side of Lake Superior. Dog Lake near Missonabie. The best fishing was actually some portage lakes off the main lake. Quite the wilderness with lakes just about everywhere. It was as about as remote as I have...

    Best floor for tinnie

I have not worked with the composites but most are not as strong as plywood or alum. You will need more supports/ shorter spans.

    Water uplift tube extension?

I don’t think copper and aluminum play well together. The aluminum looses the battle. If I recall correctly, the Mercruser alpha gen 2 used an o-ring with the plastic tube.

    Looking to upgrade

You should also look on Facebook Marketplace. Many are using that over Craig’s List these days. You can select a range from your location.

    Missing aluminum boat

Field mice love to tunnel through the stuff. Might have contributed to the foam becoming waterlogged.

    Looking to repower

I think it would a better platform than the 1438. That would be about a 33-34HP jet. It looks like they have models for E/J, but would need to contact them for your specific model. Last I knew, you had to order a year ahead of time. No, I have not done the conversion myself. We have a...

    Looking to repower

Those jets are very heavy for a 1438 and it sounds like you have it very loaded. It is a narrow boat and is going to be slow to plane. My son's friend had a 1436 with a Merc 2-stroke 25/20, that was hard to plane, even with just himself or two people. You will also need a jackplate or build...

How to fill small hole in back of transom?

I don't see much use in speculating vs examining at the end of the season. Worse case is that there is allot of corrosion and it would need to be re-skinned. If you only have the one hole, think that is highly unlikely, though. The hole might not be corrosion or there is minimal corrosion...

How to fill small hole in back of transom?

Given it is all coming apart at the end of the season, just a dab of 4200 and an SS screw similar to one in the picture will prevent any more water intrusion. If it is above the waterline, just the 4200 will do on such a small hole. When you dis-assemble at the end of the season, will need to...

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

FWIW: Not sure if it is all LiFePO4 batteries or just the TimeUSB, they indicate the battery must be upright. ie not like an AGM. The DMI1648 had a very short aluminum front deck which I made longer with plywood. Came back about 12" or so, and that is where the battery sits.

Pressure treated wood used for floor deck!!!

I can only tell you that it took over 20 years and wet transom to put "worm tracks" and a few small pin holes in the aluminum on my 1648. The transom wood was PT plywood with no visable sealing/paint. If it has been fully sealed, probably not worth worring about. Dry is better than wet, but...

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

From Amazon: 6AWG But don't think that brand offers 4 or 2 awg. That some thick wire to work with. I take it your front deck is too low to stuff a battery up there. Thats were mine is in the 1648, and wire is only 5' to the plug. I used this style of plug on that boat: PLUG with 6awg...
