    1999 Crestliner Project

I have a similar Crestliner. It’s a1997 1750 Tournament Pro. If I decide to keep her it will need the same deck treatment. The transom seems Ok though. I’ll be watching with interest.

    Upgrade 9.9 suzuki motor

The restrictor plate is cheap. Just buy a new one so you can go back if needed. I’ve got newish (‘22 or ‘23) Zuki 9.9 with the 20hp ECM and arrestor. It works great and I’d do it all over again if I picked up another 9.9. By the way, they don’t call it a restrictor plate on a 20, it’s a...

Where do most people go to sell a used aluminum boat these days?

Ok, thanks. A guy is asking $3100 for the exact same model ‘97 115. I was upfront, told him that I was looking for parts motor and my best offer would be $2000 if it’s in excellent mechanical condition. Figured it was best to not waste each other’s time and drive five hours if he was stuck on...

Where do most people go to sell a used aluminum boat these days?

So what do you guys think a ‘97 Johnson 115 two stroke is worth? I’m thinking of picking up a parts motor. It’s in running condition and cosmetically average for a 1997 but, I haven’t made the drive to check it out yet. Assuming that it has good compression, etc. but I will check.

    Review of Garmin force T-motor

Sounds a lot like the Terrova that I bought in 2023. It’s called post covid quality. The manufacturers don’t care if their products work as advertised.

    Foam Replacement

The plywood supplier offered to replace it and I told them, “No thanks. I’m going with aluminum, I know aluminum won’t delaminate.”

    Foam Replacement

Just to update on this project. I bought two sheets of 4x10 fir marine plywood at $645. Cut to the required sizes, drilled and counter sunk holes then finished with three coats of West systems epoxy on the bottom and sides. Coated the top with two coats of West Systems two coats of one part...

Best sealer for outside jon boat on an edge. of back wall and hull.

I’m not a fan of using goop but maybe some photos would help. How old is the boat? Any corrosion or damage that might be causing the leak.

I looked at them and don’t care for the side straps.

    Trolling motor, how much thrust?

Probably not. It sounds like a play on words to fool buyers into thinking that it’s really ESC (electronic speed control.) A easy way to tell is to look at the electrical schematic. If there is a resistor in the motor circuit it’s most likely the less efficient variable speed control.

    Trolling motor, how much thrust?

I’ll second the bow mount. It’s again more coin out of pocket but, you will spend more time fishing and less time fiddling with the motor.

    Trolling motor, how much thrust?

The 36 will get you fishing. However, a modern 45 to 55 or so with electronic speed control (ESC) will work better and run longer much longer. If you haven’t bought it yet, get ESC if it’s in your price range. The old school variable speed controls are cheaper but they dump power to a...

If my dog was eating your chickens I’d shoot it if you didn’t. I was talking about people that like to shoot the dogs or cats for fun.

    Wiley Coyote

Cats come in handy to keep the rodent population down but, giving them food is not the right approach. Our local animal controls does a catch and release after neutering. This keeps the feral population under control given that the average life span is less than a year due to predators. The...
