    Wiley Coyote

Coyotes will definitely eat cats and dogs. Cougars are now in the midwest and it’s believed that eating pets was a large part of that migration. And don’t forget about the owls. They can take a small dog or large cat. Lots of hungry critters out there, keep your small pets inside.

    Plant Based Food

I think we need to counter with meat based vegatables.

    Wiley Coyote

We had a Moose get into wife’s garden last week. Her water feature was in pieces all over the yard, hummingbird feeder poles bent, etc. Could have been worse.

    Looking to repower

Fuzzygrub is right about the weight. My Mercury F25ELH JET weighs 196 pounds. It’s too much weight for my 1448 without ballast near the bow. I would not even consider installing this motor on a smaller boat. I bought the above motor from a guy with a Lowe 1648. He was selling it because it...

Not a match made in heaven!

The load should be positioned for proper trailer balance over the axle. Moving the axle forward for loading convenience with disregard to the above is unsafe. Likewise, placing a long boat on a short trailer is a bad idea.

    Battery and charger

Hey Boogman, does that motor have have electronic speed control (ESC) or is it one of the older units with the resistor speed control? Minnkota refers to the ESC as a “Digital Maximizer.” The resistor type is just called, “adjustable speed control.” The reason I brought this up is the non-ESC...

Yamaha and Suzuki software is available inexpensively. Merc has things locked down a bit tighter.

    Scotty Seeker - New Product

I can see some disadvantages with the Seeker system. First, it looks like the intent is to permanently mount above the trolling weight. That will create more drag making the weight swing back further. A guy can compensate for that. Second, it’s already too expensive to replace a trolling weight...

    Scotty Seeker - New Product

Sometimes the hardest part about trolling is staying wake. A friend and me were fishing for Macs in Northern Idaho earlier this month. We got out early that morning. Normally you need to stay on your game to keep the trolling weight 2 to 4’ from the bottom but we were fishing a large flat...

    Scotty Seeker - New Product

I prefer fly casting over anything. My fishing buddy is my 97 year old father in law. He likes to troll so we troll.

    Scotty Seeker - New Product

I thought about using an old transducer with temp sensing. Just add 100’ of cable with a waterproof splice, connect to fish finder and lower until you find the temp that you’re looking for. The resistance of the extra wire might create an offset in the temp reading. Currently trolling files...

    Does this stay on?

You can find a lot if you search on “Evinrude (the model number) year parts” I didn’t know the model number and there were a few choices so I scrolled through a few parts diagrams until something looked right. It took about five or ten minutes. In all fairness, I have a ‘97 Evinrude 115 so I’m...

    Scotty Seeker - New Product

I just found that one for $300 or so. Thanks. They also have a real time unit that pings the info to the surface using sonar. It’s “only” $1300. Ouch! I would think that a little RF current on the trolling wire could send the info topside. A sonar communicator seems overly elaborate. It...

Hi LDUBS, So there are existing products for measuring temp at the trolling weight? Can you name a couple please?

    9.9hp Motor Hoarder

It’s Ok to not like or be afraid of EFI. I’ve worked on both carb and EFI systems. The reason that I like EFI is because it’s more reliable, easier to work on and engine performance is dynamically optimized. IMO, EFI is more reliable because there are fewer gaskets, seals and moving parts to...

Just guessing that a 20hp EFI is similar in weight to an older 25 two stroke.

    9.9hp Motor Hoarder

Some people prefer carbs and that’s Ok. Parts availability is another thing to consider. Maybe that’s worth bringing up if you attempt to negotiate. New 9.9s are usually available online for $2300 or so. To answer your question; The EFI system charges enough to start after an extra pull or...
