    Coosa board fiberglass shedding solution

I think I’d use aluminum before going the Coosa route. Actually, in hindsight I should have gone aluminum on my current project rather than marine plywood. Al is easier to work with and it requires minimal prep. Anyway, don’t want to distract the thread. If Coosa is your cup of tea that’s cool...

    Cut transom brace replacement

It amazes me what people do to boats. Why anyone would even consider cutting off the knee braces is beyond my imagination.

    Coosa board fiberglass shedding solution

I have considered and avoided the stuff on a couple of occasions. A buddy just redecked with Coosa and it required support every 16” if I’m recalling correctly. Doesn’t seem like anything that would be strong enough for a transom. Curious to hear other opinions.

    Have any good marmot receipes?

What have you done to your Tin Boat today?

I’ll be in the shop working on the NR Marine today if the heat doesn’t drive me out. Trying to get the new deck finished between other projects and chores.

What have you done to your Tin Boat today?

I added an extra roller to my Ez-Loader trailer for the Crestliner a few years ago. Same problem. Aside from that Ez-Loader trailers are well built and locally manufactured. Getting parts is just a drive into town.

    Spring Surprise

Squirrels will do exactly the kind of damage that occurred to this boat. When they are building nests they love human materials like foam, cloth, string, etc. I’ve seen hammocks and lawn furniture that was destroyed by squirrels in just a few days. Coons are usually looking for food but, I...

    Spring Surprise

If you have coons you will soon have bears. Provided that you are in bear country. Both are cute but, I prefer to keep them away from my property.

    Finally done upgrading for now.

Time to go fishing. Let us know how you like the seats. I picked a couple for a build but, haven’t used them yet.

    Spring Surprise

Around here the marmots are the most destructive rodents. Don’t see many coons or squirrels and when I do see one they get a quick introduction to the PSP air rifle. By the way the Washington State animal is the marmot. It’s beyond me why any state would have a rodent for a state animal.

Is the motor height going to be an issue?

Can you move some weight forward? Trolling battery, fuel, wife, dog, etc.?

    Foam Replacement

Well the new deck is coming along. Pieces are cut out, holes drilled and countersinked plus a couple coats of west systems 105/206 epoxy. Will finish with Behr one part epoxy concrete paint and aluminum oxide grit.

Not a tin boat but, still cool. 58’ Belmont

We get a lot of old classic boats around here. Here’s cool one on FB. It’s not my boat and I don’t know the seller. You can sort through the photos here: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1918447111942227/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks

    Interesting week

Tend to agree that N Pike is as good or better than walleye. Also love a pan full of crappie when we can get into them. Hope to get out in the salt fishing salmon in late July. If everything pans out I should have an AK trip in August, just for the halibut.

He had a rough year from the sound of it. Might be working on higher priorities at the moment.

Welding - Can a 3/8” gap be welded?

II agree with Bill. Cut a filler piece, refab the entire part or trim the part to fit. If this is a nice looking boat or you want it to be, I would refab one or both corner brackets. The old ones are looking a little beaten up.

    Local Boat Prices

Maybe when I retire I’ll start fishing pike. The state pays a bounty for pike heads, think it’s $5 per head. N Pike is good eating too.

    Local Boat Prices

Apparently I waste a lot of time since most of my fishing is catch and release.
