Great prices on Bluetooth enabled batteries

That is my understanding as well. Along with a very impressive psy-op to get them to change from phones to pagers.

1950s Alumacraft Deep C Upper Transom Drains

That is a slick looking boat. I'd be leery running it at WOT across the lake on anything but a dead calm day though. 75hp seems like a lot for that little tinny.

    Boating Etiquette

It takes a while to unload everything and get it stowed away in the yak. Doubly so because a lot of yakers don't use trailers. That being said, I don't ever use the ramp when I'm launching my yak. I unload beside the ramp with enough room for boats to use it, stow everything away, and drag it...

    Boating Etiquette

This is the exact reason that I primarily fish the lake that I do. There are two lakes near me. One is 25,000+ acres with lots of deep (80+ ft) open water for pleasure boating of all kinds. The other is 6,000+ acres, shallow (35-40ft at its deepest), and stumpy as all get out. About the only...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

No kidding. I'm debating ordering everything I would need to do a full rebuild on it so that I have the parts if I need them later. I know parts motors are cheap in some parts of the US but around me they are $200+ for a seized motor on marketplace. I don't bother with craigslist because it is...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE A WINNER FOLKS! Many thanks to @lckstckn2smknbrls and @LDUBS for pointing me in the right direction. It looks like OMC changed the part number in 93 but not the actual part. 0396605 and 0397189 are not listed as compatible parts but they show cross OEM instillation on...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

From what I’ve been able to find, tank weld does not bond well to plastic. Plastweld seems to do ok on exterior repairs but I haven’t been able to find anyone that used it for an internal repair.

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

Hard to tell from a picture. I’ll have to figure out which motor it goes to before I know for sure. Edit: It looks like the 7819s were used from 93 on in the 15hp and under motors. I wonder if they just made a minor change and updated the part number... I didn't not expect this project to turn...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

That’s an option but I’ll have to do some research. 3D printing might as well be wizardry to me right now.

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

Part numbers don’t match up. Mine is a 0396605. I’m guessing the 7189 is for a different size motor.

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

It certainly looks like it. Where in the world did you find it? I thought I had scoured every corner of the net already.

Fish Finder recommendations - Stryker 4 Vivid vs PiranhaMax 4 DI

Definitely not in a hurry at this point. The original plan was to have the boat ready for a trip to Possum Kingdom this weekend. That wound up not being possible thanks to a crack in the transom and issues finding motor parts. At this point, I’m shooting to have it ready for February for the...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

I was planning on using permatex black. I’ve had mixed luck with loctite stuff. Using the SS wire is a good idea though. Just have to be careful that I don’t twist it TOO tight. I suspect that the plastic is brittle given the crack and how it feels in hand.

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

Any reason I couldn’t use black rtv to seal this crack on my nozzle well? It doesn’t appear to run very deep and the brass tube runs all the way through. Best I can tell, it’s just for support and the tube is still very solid. My big concern is that it sits down in the fuel bowl and will be...

Fish Finder recommendations - Stryker 4 Vivid vs PiranhaMax 4 DI

I’ve been trying to keep an eye out for a used unit. The problem I’m running into is that people in my area seem to think that 10% less than new is a reasonable price for a used unit. At the price points I’m looking at, I’d rather spend the extra $20-30 and have a warranty.

What to watch out for: 1990(ish) 15hp Johnson

I don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner but they aren’t that hard to rig up. Last time I needed one, I used a vibrating brass tumbler and scalding hot water. It worked surprisingly well all things considered. I’m really surprised that somebody hasn’t started making parts for these motors. There are...

Fish Finder recommendations - Stryker 4 Vivid vs PiranhaMax 4 DI

I’ve used a stryker and lowrance hook on different boats. The Stryker picked up a lot more than the lowrance. I’m curious how the HB compares.

Fish Finder recommendations - Stryker 4 Vivid vs PiranhaMax 4 DI

The Stryker doesn't accept conventional maps unfortunately, it does tracking and that's about it. The vivid and plus have "active mapping" but I've read mixed reviews about it. I have navionics for my phone, but the phone goes to sleep unless you are messing with it. makes it kind of a pain when...

Fish Finder recommendations - Stryker 4 Vivid vs PiranhaMax 4 DI

Which one would you recommend? The Stryker has GPS and the Piranha doesn't but I've heard that humminbird typically has better resolution than Garmin. Price points are nearly the same for both models. Going to a bigger unit isn't in the budget right now.

marking holes in hull for repair later

Depending on how long you are planning on waiting, you might consider using a paint pen. It will last longer than a sharpie or wax pencil in the elements. A can of spray paint is another option but it might make too big of a mark if you are hunting for pinholes.
