I ran a 9.9 merc on my 16 foot flat bottom, and it got on plane with me 250 pounds, my cousin 190, and my brother 130. I also had a 25 horse evinrude on the back, the pull rope broke on me at the ramp so I tossed my 9.9 on it. I would say it ran over 10mph.

around here, (tampa) I would imagine seeing it on craigslist for 600-700, but I dont think anyone would pay over 400-500 for it. I put my early 90s evinrude 25 on craigslist for 750 and didnt get any offers.

I have '98 mercury 9.9 that I can throw on it. I used it on my last 16 foot and it pushed it nice. Its only a 10 minute run with the 9.9 to most places I go but I will be upgrading the boat to a 35 - 50 horse with remote steer eventually.

I think thats what I will do, the smaller trailer I might turn into a bike trailer for my mom to use to haul her and my little brothers bikes to the trail. she cant lift them in my truck because its lifted, and bike racks that are half way decent are all 250 vbucks and up for a hitch mount.

get a jack plate, or even convert your motor to a short shaft. As far as I know all you need is the driveshaft, and leg from a short shaft to do the swap. Would help if you told us what motor and boat youve got.
