Why would someone put this many holes in a boat?

If the Post Office had it, could have been a gun rack or a mount to drag mail underwater until it dissolves.

    Galvanized bolts ok for aluminum?

Stainless steel is steel with nickle in it. Add it to aluminum and you have a electrolysis with water added. My transducer bracket was SS and ate that size hole through the stern. Every place I used SS corroded the aluminum it came in contact with. I use my boat almost always in salt water but...

    Roof valley aluminum?

Aluminum flashing used for covering foam under seats. Way better than the steel it replaced. Once foamed in place it became solid as a brick and painted nicely.

    1968 Mirrocraft Rebuild continues

Painted the inside with 2 coats of oil based Rustoleum. A little bit of mineral spirits really helps get rid of brush strokes. The holes and corrosion from the stainless steel transducer bracket were wire brushed; covered with JB Weld, then clamped between two 3"x4"x1/4" 6061 aluminum...

    erratic inductive tach..need coax wire?

Routing of the wire near a high signal noise source; ignition, transducer, radio transmit antenna, can induce unwanted signals into the tachometer device. 1. The pickup sensor must be properly mounted 2. Route the sensor wires away from noise sources, do not run parallel with other wires 3...

    Quick opinion please!!!

With added floors, decking, carpeting, live well, I think you are looking at a sinker. I don't see any flotation either. Could be a killer.

Switch panel and bus bar questions, need a bit of help!

Don't use any buss bars. If you want to keep everything at the battery, buy crimp style ring lugs to fit battery stud and stack 'em. Use one lock washer only for each battery stud. If you decide to install a remote panel things will get complicated fast. Have a good stout knife or small ax to...

    on board battery charger

Get a 12 inch by 12 inch solar panel with a solar charge controller, best there is for regulating battery voltage. Will work every day for years whenever there is light. If you can't find a place to put it try the top of the motor housing.

    Utility boat question

My 1968 14 footer is 0.060" and has survived rough water and being shot through the air into a field by a hurricane. For 0.010" difference in hull material thickness I have probably dragged off that much on trailers, rocks, and sand beaches. But I like my boat as light as I can get it so I can...

Need proof that tin boats "sweat" - forming condensation?

In time fibreglass, resin, epoxy all absorb water. If the enclosed compartment is air tight, made of aluminum, there will be no water absorption from atmosphere or submersion.
