Shopping for a Wider Mod-v Aluminum

That is one sweet ride you have there I wish I had places like that to explore, I think you are right however about there not being any wide older tins they seem to be strictly a newer thing.

    Any welders on here?

All in all it didn't turn out too bad I ended up fixing one crack and four holes plus I helped the guy rebuck a few leaky rivets and now he is leak free. Kinda got off to a rough start but towards the end I got the hang of it, the hull was paper thin from being drug along the ground all it life...

    painting a stripe

korywithak, I really like the vinyl idea but I priced it and it's 124 dollars for a 6'' wide by 50' long roll which is alittle too expensive for me considering how cheap a quart of rustolem paint is... Ranchero50 I may try that but I think spraying will be easier and look better, I have...

    foam

The rear deck on my 84 was all aluminum with no way to remove it short of a cutting wheel. Unfortunately the foam had somehow overexpanded and buckled the aluminum. :(

    Any welders on here?

I'll give it a try makes sense as the old guy who taught me to tig aluminum always told me I had to learn to be more patient.

    Any welders on here?

Are there any aluminum welders on here? I am pretty good at tigging nice clean new aluminum but I have one heck of a time doing repairs on a 20+ year old aluminum boat. Could anyone share some tips on how to clean an old boat up so you can make effective welds? The newest boat I need to repair...

    My First Aluminum Boat Project

Looking good man where are you at in Savannah and where do you fish? I live in Sylvania GA and am restoring a bass tracker that is roughly the same size with the intentions of using it to fish the intercostal water ways around Savannah. Maybe we could get together one day and work on a boat or...

    painting a stripe

They all don't but some do some have a different color some are solid white, I like blue so I want to go that direction. I don't need to use some sort of primer before I put the paint on?

    painting a stripe

I want to paint a blue stripe down the side of my bass tracker to match the looks of a real flats boat. How should I prep and what paint do I need to use?

    Weight distribution

Talk to me about weight distribution, I am completely remodeling an '84 TX17 tracker and am plotting on engine choices right now. My concerns are weight vs hp. Its rated for a 80hp max but an 80hp weighs in at 300lbs I am planning on having around a 20 gallon bait tank which weighs in at another...

    Maintaining mutiple batterys

I plan on buying an onboard charger whenever I get the restoration done on my boat I'm just looking for a way to maintain them while I am working on it.

    Maintaining mutiple batterys

I have 3 batterys right now that I need to maintain and only have one battery charger/maintainer. Would it be possible to wire them all in parallel and hook the maintainer up that way? I realize it wouldn't be a good idea to charge them this way but I am just talking about a trickle charger for...

    Sandblasting your tin???

Its not the heat that warps the metal it the peening of the metal by the blasting media causing the material to stretch more on one side than the other. That's why on classic car restorations soda blasting is recommended because the soda is fine enough not to peen the metal but will remove...

    Sandblasting your tin???

I think you would be wasting your time with any of those small sand blasters it would literally take you all day to do a 14 foot jon and even then it most likely wouldn't be done very well. Your best bet is to find someone who does sandblasting professionally it would only take them 30 mins at...

    Seat location

Anyone have any good ideas on how to put four seats in a 17 foot bass tracker? I plan on using it for pleasure and fishing and when I am playing I would like to have four comfortable seats for occupants. If possible I would like to keep two removable so they are not in the way while I am fishing...

    Need input FAST!!

Ok update I checked compression and its a good 120 across all cylinders. Next I swapped the trigger wire of coil two to coil three and the spark followed so then it's the trigger right. Well next thing I know I have very weak to no spark on one and two. Started poking around and found a...

    Need input FAST!!

I got it today and I am afraid the motor is just scrap metal but other than that it looks good. Anybody have any idea why a 86 mercury 80hp would only be firing on two cylinders? Is this motor even work spending time on or are they complete junk?
