    Seat recommendations

I ended up with these: https://www.deckmate.com/collections/fishing-boat-seats/products/rt3?variant=30946773958731 I wanted something compact that wouldn't raise me up much higher than the existing bench. I raised my center console 8" to get the steering wheel above my knees and didn't want to...

    Battery placement...in the bow?

My truck battery bounces around every time I hit a pothole and gets the snot beat out of it every time I'm heading to a dear stand, fishing hole, or trap set out in the woods somewhere. I've never had a battery fail from bouncing.

    Fixing screw holes....best practice?

I used to be a big believer in aluminum brazing rod. I've fixed a lot of stuff with it and it's not that hard to use. But then it happened: I was brazing a small crack in my aluminum boat. Unlike steel, aluminum doesn't go through any sort of color change as it gets hotter. You have to be...

    Great American Outdoor Show

We've been there several times. We don't usually do any of the special evening events - but have a couple of times. I prefer to pick a day in the middle of the week and be there when the doors open. Weekends are packed and even week days get packed by noon. There's a solid 4-6 hours of...

    Console

I''ve been on boats where the wheels were perfectly vertical, perfectly horizontal, and somewhere in between. I don't think it matters at all, at least not the way I boat. I rarely go more than 20 miles from the launch ramp. That's probably 40 minutes of "driving" time. I move the boat...

    EMAIL NOT WORKING

Verizon doesn't know if you're sending and receiving website data or email. So, if you can connect to the internet and were able to post this question, it's not an email problem. It's also not a problem with your router or other devices between you and the internet. Unless...you actually have...

new trailer lights do not work

I don't know what the problem is but I would use a volt meter to check every wire coming out of the truck's trailer connector. Check the voltage to ground with the various lights on and off (tail, blinker, etc.). At least that eliminates (or proves) the truck as the problem. All of the...

    Oscillating saw for cutting aluminum

oscillating multi-toll will work fine. I've cut sheet aluminum with mine a bunch of times. Getting a nice straight, smooth edge is tough. They tend to wander and you have to steer them back to your pencil line. I have clamped a piece of 1x lumber along the pencil line and used that as a...

How Far to save 30 Cents/Gallon

IRS says it costs 56 cents per mile to operate a vehicle including gas, repairs, initial purchase, etc. They haven't updated that figure in years and with gas and car prices being what they are now, I bet it's close to 75 cents per mile. If 75 cents is pretty close to reality, you can drive...

    structural integrity compromised

I have a 1751 - 1 foot longer than the boat you're considering buying. Mine is flat bottom so it gets up on plane quickly and doesn't plow through the water the way a fish hawk will. I have a 40hp motor and can get to 29mph. I've tried to break 30mph several times and can't get there. He...

    structural integrity compromised

The notched bench seems like it's a bit flimsy to me. I'd worry about the seat flexing in the red circle. I would cut along the yellow lines instead to leave more meat and add some reinforcing (blue) with a piece of angle or square tube. Not much more work but a lot stronger. In my opinion.

    structural integrity compromised

I might install somethign like this, bent from round or square tube. You would have something to step over unless you can install the horizontal bars below the finished floor. This would resist the outward forces on the sides of the hull and you can install small seats on either side.

    Tin Ark

They make great boats. 72" wide is going to be very stable. I think you got a good deal.

    Treated plywood

The advantage of marine grade plywood is that you can seal all of the edges. Because normal plywood has voids, all cut edges have holes in them from missing chunks of the various laminations. Cut marine grade plywood has a solid edge that can be sealed well. But...for the price, I'll use...

    Strange Issue With My Truck

Suspicious. To un-thread the NOx sensor, you would need to twist up the wire leads. I don't see it backing out on it's own.

    New fuel line cracking

I don't know if 5/16 hose is compatible with 6mm fittings or not. I bought flexible rubber 6mm hose at my local racing shop. I also sleeved it, not so much for protection from damage but for protection from the sun.

    Power outages

Several years ago we had a derecho come through. I didn't even know what one was before we had one. We lost power for 7 days and roads were unpassable. Those who ventured out carried chainsaws and there were groups of strangers meeting at fallen trees and clearing the roads. We didn't have...
