anyone ever raised the sides of a v-hull?

My biggest fear is taking a wave over the transom or burying the bow in following seas. I suppose you could make bow higher but I really don't think raising the sides will make the boat that much safer. Also removing the gunnels will weaken the structure of the boat, I am not convinced riveted...

    MonArk Mod 16' V

+1 about the foam. The pour in stuff will cause problems unless boat is garaged IMO. You gotta get the snow off your roof, those ice damns are gonna do damage!

What to do with old livewell pump hole?

Here was my solution, one piece on either side sealed with 5200 and bolted.

    Motor Value

    Check nadaguides.

    Duroboat

I wouldn't be afraid to get one if the price is good! I checked out the site and they seem pretty well made. My Lund has similar hull thickness and is still going strong after 19 years. I also like the idea of having things that others don't. If you get it please post a bunch of pics.

    1974 Mirrocraft 16' Deep V Restore/Mod

There is a sweet mirrocraft 14' resto thread from last year. You should do a search and check it out! He did a nice job putting in his floor.

    Floor covering other than carpet

I have Nautolex in light gray and it isn't too hot for summer in NE. Obviously summer here is much different that summer down south. Yes it is measured linear yard off the roll.

    Floor covering other than carpet

I think that I got 6' wide goods but I am not positive. When I did my project last winter I looked on ebay and couldn't find any cheaper than defender.com. Lots of what I found on Ebay was either by the ft of were charging ridiculous shipping prices.

    Floor covering other than carpet

Defender.com has Nautolex for a good price $19 per yard I think. Shipping was quick and price was fair.

    sealant

Seams and rivets only. I think if you do entire thing it won't last as long, it will crack faster if you do the entire hull. Just my opinion from working with it. Gluvit is good stuff though!

    Rainsuit

Simms make great products! I have a pair of their custom fit waders, they are by far the best waders I have ever had! It isn't even close, I am sure you will be happy with the Simms gear.

Good deal, congrats! Keep posting pics of your progress. Welcome to tinboats.

    Rainsuit

They are a little heavier than some of the real lightweight breathable stuff out there but I feel like it will hold up better and keep the rain out longer. Check them out in person if you can.

    Rainsuit

I won a set of Grunden's Gage rain gear last year. Nice stuff, waterproof, breathable, lightweight and durable.

    1957 Feathercraft 14ft v hull conversion

There is a thread about figuring the amount of foam needed to float your boat at top of this thread or in the boat house. Requires a bit of math but isn't too bad.

    What do I have

I would try that. I live in ma and when my stepfather died I was instructed to do this by an RMV employee. Was a funny exchange because I was to clueless to understand what she was telling me to do. I followed her instructions, forged a signature and the boat was mine.

    Marine Grade Plywood

Yep, gotta back it with something. I used HTPE cutting board.

    Hide Wires

I ended up using a old shop vac hose. Works and it was free!

Treated wood on aluminum = bad?

I live on the island of Martha's Vineyard and I am happy to say we don't have one of those mega home improvement stores here. My local lumber store carries MDO but doesn't have marine ply. I just looked at what I paid for MDO last year when I did my mod. $60 and $80 for 1/2 and 3/4 ply. A bit...
