Treated wood on aluminum = bad?

I'm also a big fan of MDO but is sure as hell isn't cheap in my neck of the woods. Only thing more expensive is cabinet grade plywood.

    What do I have

I would put foam in it. I ran my boat for years without enough foam, it wasn't until I redid everything and put in more than enough did I realize how much safer I feel. Its worth it for the peace of mind.

What are you planning for your boat in 2015

Not much left to do on my rig but I would like to install another seat base. Probably way in the bow, this will only be used to get the seat out of the way while running and gunning chasing breaking fish.

First Timer - 16ft starcraft rebuild

You have a nice hull there to work with. One thing that would be a concern is the trailer, it looks way too small for a 16' boat! Boat is hanging way off the back and the axle is almost at the center of the boat. If you put a decent size motor on there it will be totally unsafe IMO.

New to me boat- Is this a 16' Alumacraft?

Nice looking boat. I would guess that you have an Alumacraft console in a different hull. I think someone will recognize the hull and give you some input. Post some more pics if you do any mods!

My first boat and V boat mod.

First I would try to rebuck the problem rivets or you could drill it out and replace with a SS bolt, washer and nylock bolt sealed with 3m 5200. If you want to seal it it should be done from the inside. There a lot of products that you can use to seal, 5200, Gluvit, GFlex, ect.

Sounds like a good plan for replacing the rivets. I have no experience with the steering but I am sure someone will help you out with that.

My first boat and V boat mod.

I was just thinking that, would hate to drop a lure or something. Also a pain it leaves and debris get down there. Perhaps you could get some of that interlocking foam flooring to go over everything. Its cheap light and removable.

14ft aluminium boat safe to fish coastal saltwater and bays?

Rough measure of my rig is 21'6-22' ish. Mine is tough to push around by hand. I doubt you need the trailer mock up, unless you are turning way more than 90 degrees it shouldn't be a huge problem. Once you do it and practice it will be easy. The more forward you move the axle the easier it will...

14ft aluminium boat safe to fish coastal saltwater and bays?

They make trailers with the folding hitch so they will fit into a garage. Not sure if that is an easy retrofit. Check out the trailer section. There are many factors involved in a trailer, lots of 14-16' boats fit on same trailer. Position of axel would prob be biggest factor. When I had to get...
