    What's with the weather?!!!

This year an amazing amount of rain. Air temperature last week near 80; last night 40 degrees and today in the low 60's with a high wind with gusts of 20mph. Guess no fishing until Tues.

Old Bass Tracker still worth the $7700 I paid for it used

Like most used cars and boats over 8 yrs. old, you can never know what's wrong with the motors or its upkeep by the original owners. $1818.59 later for motor repair and more yet to get rid of some really old gas, still seems like a good deal considering the boat new. I guess what fooled me into...

Motor oil 5W-30 okay even though 10W-30 recommended?

I have a 2.5 Mercury and have been using 5W by mistake. Any problem? Just ordered 10W just in case. But one thing I didn't realize was the oil level indicator window's accuracy depends on the motor being perfectly level or it may indicate an over- or under fill. Been there/did that until I...

Confidence lures and simplifying the tackle box.

I second that BIG TIME !!! with U started the topic with a well thought out post that focuses attention on what it take for a fish to strike. Many forums ridicule the length of my initial posts and/or replies that are actually meant to simplify lure choice. The variety of lure designs/ types...

Confidence lures and simplifying the tackle box.

Color choice has been beaten to death. Fact is, the closer a lure is within the visual range of a fish, the more the true hue is seen. But even then does it really matter? One definition of superstition is: a belief that certain events or things will bring good or bad luck. In the case of...

Bad when tm company doesn't have contact info

TM handle attachment too small, but thanks for the suggestion. Know what you mean about 'going south'. Did that from my jon boat and lost my wallet with cards, registrations and over $80 in cash. Even in 4 1/2' of murky water, no chance of recovery. Good thing for the depth which allowed me to...

Bad when tm company doesn't have contact info

A Pexmor 36# thrust trolling was given to me but the prop was damaged. I went to the company website and no luck find contact info for parts or links to parts. Luckily I did a search on the part # inside the motor and on Amazon it came back as a Weedless Wedge - a Minn Kota prop. The tm does...

    Worms Anyone?

LR, not knowing the depth range you fish or the vegetation available is grabbing for straws as far as what to cast, presentation and where to cast lures or live bait. My preference is a lake that has pads, steep drops, points, various bottom hardnesses, inflow and outflow. What to cast is what...

    Won't go on plane

Maybe I could try running to the front of the boat to see if it drops the bow and running back before it hits shore - but only if the water's calm. (Just kid'n)

Confidence lures and simplifying the tackle box.

Wish that weren't true most of the time! But knowing the water is key to using various lures, and the only way I can do that is with sonar and a boat. The more times a water is fished and searched, the more I know the structure of the bottom and seasonal fish locations as well as which...

    Won't go on plane

Agree which is why I'm waiting for my mechanic to fix this sooner than later. I screwed up somehow in heavy weeds and won't do that again.

    Won't go on plane

The throttle once pushed all the way forward from half way up, does not increase RPMs. Trim angle starts from all the way down and then is raised somewhat once boat speed increases out of the hole. Motor: Aug 2007 40hp EFI 4-stroke (didn't think they even made 4-stroke motos back then) Boat...

    Won't go on plane

Has the boat been sitting in the lake and is now full of rain water? Parked on land near my garage. Has your gas can been sitting outside in the hot sun and/or rain? New unleaded gas - always from the pump. Mercury 40hp efi 4-stroke. pic will be added to edit plus other info

    Won't go on plane

When I push the throttle forward to halfway, it doesn't continue to go faster to go on plane but only plows water with the bow high. When I bought the boat recently and took it out for the first time it did great, 40 hp withstanding. Seem like a fuel-starved carb. Any ideas?
