How I added decks, storage, and floor to Alumacraft 1442NCS

What I used for the deck is 1/2 cdx plywood sealed with Helmsman spar urethane (if I did it again, I would use 3/8" to reduce weight, as it already sits on a solid platform. I would just reinforce the bottom side of the hatches so that the could be stood on.) I did the front and rear decks at...

How I added decks, storage, and floor to Alumacraft 1442NCS

I wanted enclosed storage. This boat comes with none, as the front deck is enlarged due to the lack of center bench (gives me wide-open floor space which I was after) and therefore front deck contains a foam block for flotation. I determined that I would enclose the space behind the rear bench...

How I added decks, storage, and floor to Alumacraft 1442NCS

This is my 2015 boat with Endura Max 55 electric motor. I fished it a few times to decide where I wanted everything to be. You know what these boats look like. Here it is on some of my first outings with it. Devil's Lake (Wisconsin), and Wisconsin River. My fishing partner in the back seat who...

    Noise silencer for your hitch...

I wrap electrical tape around my hitch a few times before inserting it into the receiver. That makes it tight and cushions the sound.

    Medical Emergency...Local Marina!

I've been away from here for a while and it is so great to return to a touching story like this. People are so crazy and selfish in these modern times that I expect such a community to be rare. I'm glad they were among us that day!

    What did you catch today?

This was a few weeks ago while bluegill fishing with ultra light tackle. It felt like a boat anchor.

Square front jon front trailer stops

I just use the regular roller type rubber stop. The boat compresses it flat against the back side, and can roll to allow the bow to go up or down as you're winching it tight. I'm sure I'll have to replace it after a few seasons as it gets flattened out of shape, but I like how it works, and the...

Setting your Digital alarm clock to 24 hour format.

My internal alarm clock also wakes me up 10-15 minutes before my alarm is set to go off. Strange thing is my morning schedule changes either daily or weekly, but my head somehow still knows.

    Begging or working...8th grade girls

I've said to them "come with me, I have a couple of rooms in my house to be painted, I'll give you $10 an hour, cash." "I can't do that" is the response. The problem is that they make more than $10 an hour by standing there holding a sign.

Did you know a float/trickle charger can KILL your battery?

I've only used them on the batteries in my motorcycles. A Battery Tender Jr. is the brand I use, I have a few of them. There's lots of talk about this in the motorcycle community, and the main conclusion is that their purpose is for winter storage, or for prolonged non-use. What I used to do was...

OH MY! what do we have here???

I'm a fan of the rat baits. Some of them have gotten HUGE. Might as well be a duckling if you're gonna target big fish! BUT, the bigger sized rats are over $25 for ONE lure. I was lucky enough to be a winner of the Spro Rat giveaway on here otherwise I never would have tried it. I've since...

    F%@&ing no spill gas jugs

On my last fishing trip I resorted to buying a funnel so that I could remove my fuel can spout and pour the gas into my fuel tank. This works even better than the old fuel cans! The new-fangled spout was unable to release even a drop of fuel! On that note, now THIS is scary - went to buy a...

    newbie question!

Having lots of experience with several models of Harbor Freight trailers, this is most certainly the case. Bolts and nuts would have to fall off in order for it to come apart.

    newbie question!

A Harbor Freight trailer is perfect for a 12 foot jon, IMO. I just got back from a weekend trip to Hayward, WI (Northern part of state) from the Southern part of the state, and it hauled my 14ft jon loaded with batteries, motors, and gear flawlessly. Has been serving me well since I bought the...

Everstart MAXX Or Optima Blue top

Everstart Maxx has been flawless for me. I have a size 29 and it runs all day and I've recharged it on average twice a week for over a year now. Still as strong as day one. I went and bought a size 24 for the rear of the boat as well.
