    Worms Anyone?

If you've not tried the "Gulp" bait, that's the best alternative to worms that I've found. Crappies love the Gulp minnows. They also like Berkley Power Bait. Crappie nibbles are what I use for ice fishing. I stopped using live bait years ago. I'll give you a tip for bluegills and crappies: if...

    What battery to use??

Not since ice. No boat right now other than a long skinny plastic one. That would be ideal actually, just no time to go.

    Fishing License

They tend to leave us alone when they see that we have what's called a "Conservation Patron's License" in Wisconsin. I've been buying this every year on April 1st for many years now. A patron's license groups every fishing license and stamp with every hunting season, hunting tag, and weapon type...

    What battery to use??

Been a lithium battery student of the internet for a couple of months now and finally ordered a pair of Ionic 50ah for my 24 volt motor. I have not seen a bad review or report about this brand no matter how much snooping I did to find one. They're more expensive than Amazon ones, but are a...

    What battery to use??

My battery shopping for my soon-to-be-arriving new boat started about 2 months ago. Dakota Lithium is what turned me on to looking into LiFePo4 batteries, just because I was always seeing their ads everywhere. But I've seen way too many reports of the Dakotas failing and their customer service...

    Fishing License

Convictions in court and the resulting fines say otherwise. I get what you're saying, but goobment don't care about your rights, only the money-grabbing restrictions they impose on us.

Has anybody noticed the absence new Jon boats under 15ft for sale?

The smallest ones I've seen that you can actually still order are G3 boats. I recently ordered a 15 foot.

    What trolling motor upgrade

The Garmin and Lowrance I believe are the benchmark that Minn Kota and Motor Guide can only strive to match. I'd have a Force if I had at least a 17 ft boat that accommodated the motor's minimum shaft length.

    What trolling motor upgrade

I'm seriously considering the Motorguide Tour Pro on my new boat which is similar to yours. It's a 24 volt. I would never go back to a 12v motor even on smaller boats.

    Added a recessed tray

I saw that one on Amazon and was thinking about buying it for my new G3 1548 that hasn't arrived yet. You have pictures of your whole boat? I see your seat pedestal mount on that small-ish front deck, which would be exactly my situation this time around since I'm not planning on extending it.

Transducer Mounting Options - Screw, Glue or Both?

I have used a small piece of leftover composite exterior trim 3/4" thick that I used on my house. Applied the block with an exterior all-purpose construction adhesive. Stayed stuck to my last boat through the life of 3 transducers under extreme abuse for the entire 7 years I had it.

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

I had one of the premium advertised lightweight batteries for my racing motorcycles in the early 20teens. When it was cold, the first push of the starter button on the bike heated the cells, and the second push started the engine.

Old boat sold. Waiting until June or July for new to arrive

Not many site visits from me in the previous few years. Sold the 1442NCS Alumacraft that I shared on here previously. https://www.tinboats.net/threads/how-i-added-decks-storage-and-floor-to-alumacraft-1442ncs.42208/ Had ideas to go back to a bare bones wide open jon boat. So I stripped it down...

    Plywood for flooring

I used the carpet adhesive. Not sure about spray as it may eat the foam.

Anyone create FRP Board and Polystyrene sandwich for decking.

Interesting take on using foam board for decking. I've thought of using FRP as well, but it is expensive. You've revealed in your research there that by the time you build a 4x8 sheet of decking in this fashion you are over $100 per sheet. And that's not even your finished surface. What are you...

    Plywood for flooring

The 2" foam you are inquiring about should go between the ribs and the finished floor over the top. The noise the plywood made in your boat is because you didn't have foam underneath it. You'll want that foam there regardless of what your finished surface is. At my lumber yard, 3/4" foam board...

    Plywood for flooring

Hear me out on this one. I tested the following method extensively with my previous build. I've documented it here somewhere a long time ago. Been awhile since I've posted. It's been mentioned to use foam between the ribs. For sure do this - it should be 1-1/2" thick to build up the floor to...

    Tackle boxes vs. soft-sided bags?

Multiple smaller soft bags containing 2-8 plano boxes each is what I've finally settled on for my gear recently. For now... - I have one small bag containing two boxes - which is a very abbreviated 'everything' box. This is nice to grab to go shore fishing, and just stays in my truck 90% of...

    New Grizzly 1448 and '21 Merc 15hp Won't Plane?

Whether you financed that engine or not, you can trade it in. Just don't do it at that incompetent dealer. Not completely their fault that you went with a 15hp long shaft instead of a 15hp or 25hp short shaft. Should have done your homework. Regardless, they have a duty to serve you...

I think I'm done with Minn Kota

I ordered a MotorGuide X3 70lb digital. Goes with my new Lowrance fish finders. Hope it's not junk.
