    Old gas---what to do?

I have several older big pieces of heavy equipment. I usually will slip small amounts of it in the fuel tank at a time as long as it isn't water contaminated. It never knows it.

    Lowe 1852 with 25hp?

I would say downstream with a big tail wind and most likely fudging the specs at that.

    Cracked transom aluminum

It won't be anymore apt to slide on it than it did on the original transom.

Need Help with Setting Mercury 25 4 Stroke

He is exactly right. I had a 21' Low that I had to make some trim tabs to correct it, even with three batteries and a 16 gallon fuel tank in the front. It took only a 1 1/2 degree deflection on the tabs but they had to be back there to stop the porpoising. As for the whale tail I would throw the...

    De-pro'ing a Tracker

I do quite a bit of aluminum fab. If you are wanting to keep weight down in the future your decking you said you used 1/8". You could have used .080 and saved quite a bit of money, weight and been much easier to work. It still would have been solid as a rock with the bracing as close as it is...

    tilt/trim relay problems

More times than not when I have run across one acting as this one is it has been the switch for the tilt/trim itself. not the relay.

    9.5 Evinrude Seal/Compression

I believe if you will check the compression "new" would be considerably higher than 70-75. I had one in the 80's and it had middle to upper 90s when I checked it. Usually 70-75 is what is considered bare minimum to run reliably. If that coil is cracked it may not be giving you issues yet but...

    9.5 Evinrude Seal/Compression

I would be very suspect of a 40 PSI compression reading and it running, and especially running as well or as long as you say it does. Is that a visible crack on one of the coils?

    Motor Height Setup

Well it really isn't pressure in anything, pressure is developed in most situations in a closed system and also to lower the boiling point and even in a pressure system you have to have flow. Even in some systems that actually are pressurized with no water pump they rely on thermal conduction...

    Motor Height Setup

My Yamaha has one, but it is actually almost indiscernible in the daylight and if you think about it you aren't looking back near as much as you are looking forward. A LOUD alarm like the OMC low oil alarms to me would actually be better but that is just me.

    Motor Height Setup

With 7" of setback you should be able to run your cavitation plate over 3" higher than the bottom of the boat. Mine is over two I believe it is about 2.5"trimmed correctly. You will just have to keep raising it and see how it performs without porpoising, blowing out or starving the water pump.

    Motor Height Setup

Angles are deceiving but if you actually do have a true 7" of setback you should be able to be running that motor higher than it appears it is in that pic. I have 5" and am running mine considerably higher than than on a similar setup.

1986 Yamaha 25hp Ignition or Fuel Problems

That slight miss @1500 may be the "spot" where it is transitioning over from low speed to high. All engines do it, Yamahas for some reason are more pronounced, most in the 25 HP range is right at 1200 RPM. When you say it has a "miss" that is kind of generic. It would be nice to know if it was...

107 year old Evinrude back in service! 1913 at it's best.

I believe you had a vid. of when you started it the other time. Glad to see it going now in much better shape.

    1987-88 Johnson 20hp

You can’t epoxy that starter mount. Welding at best and that is tricky. Better to replace it.

    Compass necessity?

If you have EVER gotten caught on a large body of water in the fog you have some type of navigational tool to get you back to where you want to go.

    1983 35 hp Evinrude

I suggest you read through this post and maybe even type "decarb" in the search feature and look at what Pappy has recommended on other threads also. As I said earlier it MAY help your engine or it may not, it won't hurt it...

    1983 35 hp Evinrude

That is right at the borderline before it isn't going to start/run correct for you. It possibly could have some stuck rings. You could research some of the threads on here where Pappy has given some advise on bringing old motors back that have been setting and breaking rings loose/removing...

    Older 25hp Johnson

You can check the thermostat for function, other than that I would change water pump and lower unit oil, plugs and give the fuel lines a good look/going over and if all checked out enjoy it. Look at the paint on the head etc. for obvious signs of ever being run hot (hopefully before you...

    Stand up stick steer??

To answer your question, go for it. If you have already been ejected then there will be no cherry gotten, just make sure your kill system is intact and working and use it, you will need it. Going by the waters you described you run it.
