    New Tahatsu

I have about 8 hours on it is all now but hope to have a few more by the end of the week. So far so good. At this amount of hours I consider it broke in even though it says 10 hours but I hardly ever run full throttle and now I can run at 3/4 and allowed to open it up for a couple of minutes...

    Mariner 25hp advice?

The stripes on it look the same as my 20 hp mariner and that was a 1988 motor with a yamaha powerhead. It was a great motor, still is. Sold it to my son. Jim

    New Tahatsu

I received the new motor last Thursday and had a chance to try it out today. Managed to put 5.5 hours on it. Some trolling and mostly just varying speed to break it in but managed 4 northern pike while trolling. So far I like it! Top end was 25 where my 20 hp Mariner was only 22. It is quiet and...

    New Tahatsu

I had been watching reviews and basically trying to find out as much as I could on both motors. I don't think I could have done to wrong on either one. My biggest problem was no dealers for either but I can do the basic maintenance and hope to not need anything else for a long time to come...

    New Tahatsu

I ordered the new 20hp Tahatsu after going back and forth between that and the Suzuki. I liked the idea of the spin on oil filter and a thermostat was the deciding factor. Hoping it will work on the 14 ft Lund with the factory prop without hitting the over rev. Should be here next week!! From...

    Suggested RPM

I had one that I purchased new in 1984. At the time the dealer that had set it up for me said to prop it at 5500 and that worked for me for years. Great motor. Would troll down to nothing for fishing and worked to pull my kids on skis

    Question about outboard/freezing temps

As long as you are sure there is no water in your lower unit you will be fine. I always change my oil in the lower unit in the fall to be sure there is no water in it and store some of my motors on the boats outdoors in North Dakota winters. I have never had a problem.

    ebay motor decals

I have used them on a few hoods. Not a exact reproduction but look great to refurbish a old motor.

    Double checking spark plugs

I have a 1988 Mariner 20 hp which I belive is the same motor. I run the NGK BUHW with no problems or fouling.

    What wood for seats?

I used 5/8" acx plywood and sealed it with oldtimers formula with 3 coats of spar varnish over that. Seems to be holding up fine and I have plenty of the sheet of plywood to do again if needed.

    New 2018 20hp 4 stroke tohatsu power

Have you had a chance to try the new prop to see how that does?

    What is a fair price?

My area probably 200 to 600 each if they run and look good.

    vintage aluminum boats

This has been my winter project-a 1964 crestliner. When I picked it up and so far. Still aways to go. Had a old Alumacraft and that seemed like a good solid boat

    New 2018 20hp 4 stroke tohatsu power

I still have a couple weeks before I will be ordering so I'll keep a eye on how you do. Hope it works out for you. Any better deals out there than Cummberland for Suzuki or Tahatsu that anyone knows of?

    New 2018 20hp 4 stroke tohatsu power

Was there problems with the Suzuki to make you switch to the Tahatsu? I like the idea of the easy starting.

    2 stroke to a 4 stroke?

Makes that Tahatsu sound better all the time.

    2 stroke to a 4 stroke?

What I meant was the Suzuki has had the fuel injection for a few year and I think this is the first year for Tahatsu. I wouldn't think they would put it out on the market without feeling they have it right but without a close dealer the Suzuki has proven themselves where this is new on the small...

    2 stroke to a 4 stroke?

I cant find his posts on that motor but seem to remember some kind of problem? Pretty sure all companies have a problem now and then. Just have to hope they stand behind there product. The Suzuki has been out for a few years was my thinking and this I think is the first year for the Tahatsu.

    2 stroke to a 4 stroke?

The Mercury sounds interesting and the dealers are all over. I wonder when they will be available? Tahatsu or Suzuki will probably still get my business because if I buy on line I will end up doing all the service myself anyway. No dealer around here will touch it if I don't buy from them. Cant...
