I had one that I purchased new in 1984. At the time the dealer that had set it up for me said to prop it at 5500 and that worked for me for years. Great motor. Would troll down to nothing for fishing and worked to pull my kids on skis

As long as you are sure there is no water in your lower unit you will be fine. I always change my oil in the lower unit in the fall to be sure there is no water in it and store some of my motors on the boats outdoors in North Dakota winters. I have never had a problem.

I have used them on a few hoods. Not a exact reproduction but look great to refurbish a old motor.

I used 5/8" acx plywood and sealed it with oldtimers formula with 3 coats of spar varnish over that. Seems to be holding up fine and I have plenty of the sheet of plywood to do again if needed.

Have you had a chance to try the new prop to see how that does?

My area probably 200 to 600 each if they run and look good.

Was there problems with the Suzuki to make you switch to the Tahatsu? I like the idea of the easy starting.

What I meant was the Suzuki has had the fuel injection for a few year and I think this is the first year for Tahatsu. I wouldn't think they would put it out on the market without feeling they have it right but without a close dealer the Suzuki has proven themselves where this is new on the small...

I cant find his posts on that motor but seem to remember some kind of problem? Pretty sure all companies have a problem now and then. Just have to hope they stand behind there product. The Suzuki has been out for a few years was my thinking and this I think is the first year for the Tahatsu.

The Mercury sounds interesting and the dealers are all over. I wonder when they will be available? Tahatsu or Suzuki will probably still get my business because if I buy on line I will end up doing all the service myself anyway. No dealer around here will touch it if I don't buy from them. Cant...
