am i running my motor too.high or too low

What I have always been told is that the motor cavitation plate should be level with the bottom of the transom and that for every inch of setback with a jack plate you can go 1 inch above the bottom of the transom.

What should I list these motors for?

Well I got 1500 for the 30 hp. I have the 50 listed at 1000 obo with no bites yet. I'm going to let it sit for a few days and then lower the price if there are no bites.

boat draft and floatation pods question

Well I ran the boat today. I would guess that on plane I draft about 5" or so. This is just by eyeballing it however.

1980 era Johnson Seahorse 15 hp outboard

Is it a custom prop? We had a custom prop on a 30 hp evinrude. Prop had a lot of cup shaped into it. It had a lot outta the hole but no reverse to speak of.

What should I list these motors for?

I have a 95 evinrude 30 horse and a 74 Johnson 50 horse. Both are manual tilt and are setup for remote steering and throttle. I have control boxes for both and a steering setup for either of them. Both run and pump water. Thanks for any advice.

I'm originally from the Victoria area. I'm up in central Texas now. We use the pink catfish soap on trot lines. Works like a champ.

boat draft and floatation pods question

I have pods on my 1450 xpress. They seem to help a bunch as far as getting up on plane and staying there at a slower speed. I'm not sure how much I draft. I'll check when I go out again on Tuesday. I do have home made trim tabs on the back of the pods, which helped a ton. Without them, the...

    New 30 Hp Nissan

If you want to add power/tilt and trim, you could look into something like this: https://mercuryperformance.com/jack-plate-cmc-pt-35-electric-hydraulic-trim-tilt-tht35cdp-p-175945.html?utm_campaign=googlesimple&utm_medium=product_search&utm_source=googlesimple

    My new (to me) boat

I will probably build a storage box under the console. The console is a bit short for me since I like to stand up and drive. The storage box should raise the console enough. I'm thinking that will be a good place to mount the battery charger and fuse box. The floor also needs to be changed out...

    My new (to me) boat

The pods help the boat plane faster and stay on plane at a slower speed. They really help to float that 50 horse. Thanks for all the comments y'all.

    My new (to me) boat

2001 xpress 1450. All welded boat. 54 lb thrust bow mounted trolling motor with bigfoot switch and 50 horse Johnson with electric tilt/trim. Took it out this morning and it ran 32 mph according to the gps app on my phone. I still need to mount my fish finder and onboard battery charger.

    New Wiring-Mods

I wouldn't ground through the boat. It will damage the aluminum and can set you up to get shocked. You can get a good buss bar at any academy, cabelas, bass pro or any other place that sells marine stuff. By law, the navigation lights must have an unobstructed view. To me this is a safety...

Wiring Tracker 1542 with (2) 12V batterys - Please Help!

Are you doing a console or tiller steer motor? Regardless, all circuits need to be fused. I would think 16 gauge wire would be big enough to run the lights. The fuse is designed to protect the wiring as well as the device. If there is a short, and the fuse doesn't blow, it can start a fire...

Stopping my boat from spinnin in the wind

Window weights from old wooden windows work great, if you can find them. It works like the bucket idea, just takes up less room. I learned this trick when I was a kid from my dad. We did this all the time when we would go floundering.

    1648 build - update 3/21

Update to the build. I have finished out the back deck with carpet. I still need to add one more hatch to the starboard side if the boat. That one will need to be dry storage. My GF has claimed it as her purse compartment, which is fine with me. She loves to fish just as much as I do. I have...

Convert Jon Boat to Air Boat

Floundering Boats also use an auxiliary air motor. Might search that for ideas as well. I guess it really depends on how shallow you want to go.
