Finally Posting My Boat - 14' Smokercraft with custom deck

Neat thinking on the removable piece. Gives you options. Did you mount any additional supports beneath that piece? And what was the thickness of the plywood? I like how you incorporated the edge of the front bench seat for support. Brilliant!

    12' Boat ID help

Had one just like that , tho it was actually 11' 6''. It was a Sears. possibly made by Elgin. My current 14 ft. Elgin has the same transom "squares" in the aluminum on either side if the wooden plate.

storage problem, need solution or boat goes away!

Hey folks, I need to pick your brains for awhile. We are moving to a new town with sidewalks and everything and there is not enough room for my boat. (14 ft Elgin with a Sears or Harbor Freight Trailer). The only space it can possible go is between the neighbors fence and the garage, where it...

Clamp on bow and stern lights

Like the others have said, they serve there purpose, but they are what they are, cheap flashlites. Last as long as they are not corroded inside and have decent batteries. I don't do a bunch of night fishing(yet) so mine seem to work out ok. Someday I'll upgrade......someday....sigh..

12 foot semi vee sea nymph aluminum boat

The hull and riviting , along with the transom and corners look just like a 12 (11.5) ft Sears I have. I don't think Sears made their own, just re branded others, whoever got the contract that year. I just bought a 14 footer same transom and corners but different rivits, etc. I think it's an...

SeaNymph with No Hull ID tag

I recently picked up a 14 footer, no info, no serial #. The lady I bought it from said it was given to her by some old guy she used to care for. She used it to row around for exercise. It di have old hull #'s on it from 20 years ago. I went to the dnr site on line(Wisconsin). And started to fill...

    Help identifying Sears Boat

Thanks for the info on the site! I found it there with all the info I needed. Still not exact on years but who cares. I do like the Elgin in your photo. That "look" of wood slats molded into the aluminum is classic. I've always loved wooden boats but do not have any time to maintain them...

    Help identifying Sears Boat

Well I bought the other boat and it is bigger...14 ft. I should have a bit more room. BUT i'm not sure what make/model/brand it is. An old dnr search came up with previously titled "elg**" Could this be an Elgin? I've posted some pictures of it along with pics of my 11.5 sears. The transoms are...

    Help identifying Sears Boat

I don't have any hull # just yet but after doing some more searching here and matching braces, seats, etc; I believe it to be a sears sea nymph 12-14 foot. This may be just what I am looking for, a little more "leg" room and capacity but still lightweight enough for one person to move around...

    Help identifying Sears Boat

Hello. I know that sears made/offered several differnt models of aluminum boats in th e50-60-70's. I also know that hey farmed things out to different manufacturers. Is there a chart or a reference wher someone could look at the design of the boat to figure out who made it? The boat I have and...

New guy checking in with my "wee little" boat

Thanks JMichael! (and Ringo Steele!) I hadn't thought about that approach. It's nice to have different sets of eyes and ideas. And this mod appears relatively easy, I could just add some flotation foam under the floor to compensate what was lost in opening up the seat. Yeah, that's a good one.

New guy checking in with my "wee little" boat

Well, here is a picture. Had to get a bunch of snow off it first, tho there is more coming! The registration papers say it's 11' 6" and the tag inside says 2 people @ 150#, total weight cap 488# and max 9 hp engine. I cover the 300# of people myself, but still enough left for one of my kids to...

New guy checking in with my "wee little" boat

Thanks for your concern on the drain plug. It is a marine drain plug w/ a chain. It's for real, only the plug itself is plastic .....but the method of drilling the hole was "unorthodox". I've tested it several times on the water and it doesn't leak. I know what you mean when there are children...

New guy checking in with my "wee little" boat

Just found this site and it's exactly what I was looking for. I have recently purchased a 12 foot sears semi V, circa 1969. It came with a '59 johnson Sea Horse 5.5, and old Minn Kota troller, and a '70's something trailer that I believe is also a sears. All was in good condition, being kept...
