    Removing the center seat

Especially if you are adding in some sort of flooring, you won't see any loss of rigidity. It's very common for people to remove the center seat/bench either to add some sort of decking or just for the extra space to move around.

a little reassurance please!!! 20 hp?

Should have no problems with a new 20hp on a 14 footer. I've got a loaded down 16' v-hull with a early 90's 25hp and I can run 22 solo. I think you'd have fun with it and it will get you up and going at a decent rate for sure

The new guy with a new boat

Looks like you have a nice boat there to work with. Should be lots of fun for you and the fam!

    Newbie Questions about v-bottoms

Razorback nailed it, it's an opinion-based plethora of answers to your questions. Stability all depends on the model of the v's as well. I'd recommend a 16' for something to start with. Very common (especially in the midwest) and more versatile than a 14'. I've got a 1985 Lund 16' and I spend...

    Green Boat - Opinions

I agree with rscottp, you'd be wasting your time trying to rig up any kind of solar panel/wind turbine on the boat. You'd be better of just setting up some sort of solar/wind charging system at home. It will take quite some time to charge up batteries for the boat and it would be far easier just...

    My new Alweld

looks like an awesome boat! 20mph is right on for that size motor/boat And with a 70# tm that thing must fly should be a great season on the water!

    Overhead application of Gluvit????

Also, depending on the severity of the leak, and the location, you could try applying some gluvit with a brush or something to get it into the seams etc from the underside (if thats where the leaks are). Like they said, not ideal at all, it works great from inside the boat. You won't get nearly...

Drive on trailer? Do you power load?

Power loading is one of those iffy subjects. I agree with Jethro to a point, but to go a little further I think it's really the operator that turns it into a circus. We've all been in a situation where you're sitting 20 yds from the launch waiting for someone who's taking their sweet time in...

    Using last years fuel

I usually have the same thing happen each year, a couple gallons left in the tank when the seasons done. Not really an issue at all, especially if the container's clean/free of rust. Just this weekend I topped off the 6gal tank with fresh fuel, along with some seafoam. Not a bad idea either to...

    Trolling Motor Size Vs. Voltage

Somewhat of an old topic, and I think you got a lot of great responses. To go along the lines of ccm, the issue is basically on that weight to cost balancing act. You could get some nice agm batteries to do the trick no problem, but at a high cost. Heck I think we'd all love to lose some weight...

Replacing Spray in foam with blue or pink sheets

I know this post is a little old now, but I used the pink sheets from HD to replace the old spray-in foam on my 16' Lund. Cut and stack to fit basically. There should be some sort of gap along the center running from front to back to allow some sort of flow, otherwise it'd be good to make sure...

new guy needing some project help

I agree with Bigterp I think your inability to plane out is plain and simply caused by the weight. I've got a 16' Lund and I re-built it from bare bones and added plywood casting decks and a plywood floor. That combined with battery weight adds quite a bit, and even with my 25hp if there's two...

    Bow Mount Trolling Motor Mounting

Should work out just great for you, you'd be hard pressed to ever find a boat with a TM mounted dead center. On semi-v's for example by mounting it slightly to one side that allows the unit to rest within the boat when not in use and still not be in the way, just like your's actually.

    Decking

By swapping out the wood for aluminum and a 25hp for a 40-50 you are going to be flying! That will be really nice!

What do you love most about your boat?

I love the fact that i took a 29 yr old tinny and refurbished it into a completely new boat. All at a great price, and it's completely customized to my likings. Can't beat fishing from a boat you basically brought back from the dead. It's got plenty of storage now too, which makes it way easier...

Your ONE favorite rod that you own TODAY?

My favorite rod is still my Cabelas 7'6 heavy action baitcasting rod with a Abu 5500 reel. I've had it for about 13 years now and it still works great

    Aluminum floor question

Another option if you're at all worried about any vibration would be to put down some of that weather sealant foam strips with the tape on one side along the ribs.

    Making your own depthcharts (contours)

Very cool stuff. I actually did a similar project probably 10 years back for a school project. We went back and forth across a local lake taking depth measurements and we plotted it all using an excel graph, which gave us a 3D lake map.
