This is what it's all about for me...

We went fishing in a pond/small lake at my friends house. His community maintains four or five lakes and green spaces where you can fish. I took my 10-year old down there and he had a ball. I was glad he had fun because the last four times we went fishing he hadn't caught anything. I think...

    Alkaseltzer in lures?

I had an old guy tell me to take a piece of alkaseltzer and put it in a sleeve lure. He said the bubble piss the bass off and they "attack." Have you guys ever heard anything like this?

Older Narrow 12' Aluminum Boat weight distribution

I have an older narrow 12' aluminum boat. I am much heavier than my son. Is it better to have more weight in the back near the transom or in the middle/front? Since we tumped it over, I want to make sure before we get back out. I have the trolling motor on the back, but I can mount it on the...

Will 43lbs of Thrust be enough for my setup?

I have a 12' aluminum boat. I'd say that we will be around 450lbs - 500lbs with two people, battery, gear etc. The boat is rated for 550lbs (or 650 couldn't read the tag very well), so we are going to be close to the max weight. Here's the question. I picked up a Motor Guide Trolling motor for...

Need Help - How do I ground to Galvanized

I ran my trailer lights last night. The tail lights (when head lights are on) don't work. I found out it was because I don't have the white wire ground. My trailer is galvanized so how should I ground it. Do I need to sand the area down that I am grounding too?

Hickory Creek, Tx (Old Alton Bridge) & Lake Lewisville

I fished in Hickory Creek near old Alton Bridge Tuesday for about 4 hours. There were around 20 people fishing up and down the creek a different times I was there. I ended up switching to live bait to see if I could get anything. I got nothing. There was one guy there who caught two small mouth...

What's the best way to charge a marine batter?

10 years ago I'd just pull the battery out of my car and use it for my trolling motor. Now that I'll have my son with me I don't want to get stranded, so what is the best way to charge a marine battery? Do I need to get a special battery charger? Thanks, P

Next Question: Can you paint wood that has been water sealed

I did three coats of thompson's water seal on the wood that will become my transom. Now that it is too late I have a question. Can I paint over the wood that has been water sealed, or did I need to do that before hand?

    Recharging Marine Battery

I just finished wiring up my trailer lights on my '98 Ford Windstar, while I was down there we ran 8 gauge wire to a batter box that sits under my storage area on the back of the van. I was planning on using that so that I could recharge the battery for my trolling motor. After we had everything...

Changing the Transom and What is this thing?

Two question, Rivets and Drain Hole/Plug

I just bought a late 70s era 12' flat bottom. I leak checked it last night (filled it with water on saw horses) and I found three slow rivet leaks and the drain hole leaked fast (yes I had the plug in). Here are the questions. 1. Is there something better for me to use than drilling out the...
