Great idea and thanks! The yamaha has a carrier bearing between the motor coupler and the pump shaft so yea it would be great to eliminate that part too.

ok great thanks a ton!!......so flush is my best bet and back as far as possible in the boat. And yes if i move most of the pump outside the boat i gain 12". Thanks for the help

Building my own jet boat......using twin 700 cc yamaha jet ski engines. Boat is a 1962 Texas Maid ski boat. Converted to a center console fishing boat, and now to a jet boat. Looking for input on installing the water intake.....should i mount flush? or below the hull? bottom of boat is not...

so total width to be installed in boat is 45 1/4"....with 60 " of room........that leaves enuf room for exhaust boxes and everything......fuel tanks to mounted in front of motors under bench seat that i will add

measurements so far........jet ski parts to be graphed in are 22 5/8" wide......boat is 60" inside.....

Inside the lines i had thought about having that area protrude from the bottom of the boat......would be approx 0" to 2" taper

Ok been thinking a lot about my project and need some advice before I cut into my boat. Bottom of boat is not flat , so should I mount motors with contour of bottom of boat or make them level? If I install them with contour of bottom will that affect engine performance? Help?

I have pretty good fab skills. ....but basic tools. Have buddy that has all the tools I might need. Ok I get pics then have to resize them for upload.

HP rating is 50HP for each motor and drive and yes console is staying forward. May move back about 6-8".
