I'm skeptical... what do you think ?

Okay, so my boat is in the shop {my motor is a 25hp 4 stroke Yamaha} which has blown the gasket around the water jacket twice now. I was hoping that Yamaha would extend the warranty for this 1 problem, since the warranty ends in 7 months. So, I call Yamaha this morning, and they tell me that...

    Here we go again :-(

Sorry to pop in after such a long break, with all bad news.... Actually, it's not all bad; I did just get a brand new tow truck, an F150, which I have been customizing for about 3 weeks now... Just about to get it all together. Will post post pics when its finished. Anyway, to make a long...

Anyone here experienced trailer failure ???

I haven't yet. Well, back in the day, with a worn out, rusted out old trailer.... but anyway.... and a broken leaf spring, but kept the boat on the trailer. I always wonder if my boat would stay on the trailer if the bow strap failed. I have a safety chain... but it's not really set up...

Getting ready to buy a new tow vehicle :-)

Now for starters, I don't want anyone to think, that I don't think "ALL" of the new trucks are SWEEET ! It's kind of funny sometimes to listen to the Chevy guys bash the Fords, and Ford owners to bash Dodges, etc. But IMPO, if any one of the new trucks were as bad as some guys would have you...

Got a good one in my Tin boat :-)

As most of you know, I fish a LOT, and a lot of my fishing is specifically for giant, trout-eating, California bass {although I have really been getting back to my multi-species roots, more and more the last few years}. Anyway, Thursday, I was fishing at a little trout-fed pond, and caught the...

    Running a V-hull in rough water ???

Okay now, my little baby is only a 14 1/2 ft'er, but it does have a nice V, and I also have power trim and tilt, on my 25hp tiller steer Yamaha. So, here's what I've noticed; if I trim the nose down in choppy water, it creates more drag, and slows me down a bit, however, it lets the V do what...

Back on the water, with a little advice....

Well, I fished less this last Winter than I ever have, and here's why.... As it turns out, my motor had blown a water jacket gasket, probably sometime way back last Summer. "But it still ran great" ! In fact, I had no idea, until the throttle started sticking, late last Fall. So, one day I take...

Who has the oldest boat here ?

Yesterday morning at the local boat ramp, I saw a guy in a tiny little tin boat (maybe 10 or 11ft) with a VERY old motor. Late 60's I believe. An Evinrude. While launching my own boat, the guy pulls the cord "1 time"..... and bam ! It starts ! And it kept running too ! And it was pretty cold...

Motor problem... Am I crazy... ???

to be going fishing today, and maybe tomorrow, once more too, "before" I have a chance to get my boat to the shop Thurs. morning ? Here's the scoop. Last week my throttle started trying to stick, up at around 2300 to 2800 rpms. So, back at the house, I take off the cowling, and find that some...

Big fish in my little tin boat today :-)

And the release. This shot cropped to a nice verticle shot, but for this forum, I figured you guys would want the full boat shot :-) That's a big one, huh ? :-) Peace, Fish

If I may brag about my deck just a bit :-)

I thought it came out really good. It was kind of an interesting build, as the deck was 52 inches from the front tip, to the back edge, and 52 inches wide, also. So the first obstacle, was how to get this from a 48" X 96" sheet of plywood, and appear, as one solid piece. The next thing was, I...

Farthest you have been in your tin boat ???

I guess, as the crow flies, I was never really more than 8 miles from the launch, but here on the Ca. Delta, the sloughs snake all over the place.... then throw in the fact that I took off in one direction in the morning, fished for 6 hours (caught one 44" Sturgy) then traveled back the...

How often do you experience this ???

How many times have you been talking about your little tin boat with a "big boat" owner, and had them say "in an obvious sympathetic tone" > "Oh yea'.... I had a little aluminum boat for years.... That boat was great... I just loved it.... < .....and it's just totally obvious that they feel...

    Saw something amazing this morning.....

I had a small tin boat go by me in mine, about 50 feet away. Okay, it was maybe only a 12 or 13ft'er, and there was only one guy in it. On top of that, it wasn't going too awefully fast.... maybe only 18 or 20 mph, but was on a nice level plane. But here's the amazing thing, this darn thing...

    Custom built aluminums ???

Not that I could afford one, but I often dream about having a tin boat built just for me. Now don't get me wrong; My 14 ft G3 really is my "dream boat" for a lot of the freshwater fishing I do, and honestly, even if I hit the lottery, it would remain so. However, I'd love to have a big...

Howdy guys, I'm new here :-)

.....and since I'm a fishin' fool, who loves his little "tin boat" I figure this might be a pretty suitable place for me to spend a little time :-) I go by 'Fish Chris', or simply 'Fish'. I'm 42 years old and have been fishing for anything that would bite my hook since I was not quite 3. From...
