Question for Smokercraft Owners - Mounting Accessories

Were you referring to the cleat? I'm pretty sure it is mounted on a thin sheet of aluminum with perhaps a thin layer of wood too under the carpeted top.. Was hesitant to remove a cleat as if it's held on with a bolt/nut - I might not be able to remount it if I couldn't get access underneath...

Question for Smokercraft Owners - Mounting Accessories

Hoping for some advice from those familiar with Smokercraft Fishing boats. I own a 2005 Promag that has a flat carpeted gunwale and a strip of padded vinyl trim on its edge. See pic. I have been wanting to get access underneath the flat portion near the stern to mount bolted plates ( for...

Advice-using 1slightly used and 1 new battery in parallel

I have a 12 volt MGxi5 TM that currently runs of one Interstate SM29 battery. The battery (Mf'd Aug 2015) came with the boat when i got it last year. it has always been maintained year round with an on-board charger. Reads 12.66 volts when i measure it off the charger. Am thinking of pairing it...

Mesh cargo nets for side of bow - worthwhile?

Wondered about adding some of those long, narrow cargo nets along the sides of my bow on my Smokercraft. Have seen them installed on new boats. Always could use some extra storage space during the day and wondered if those of you who have them recommend them? Any recommended on-line sources to...

    24 volt trolling motor for a 1448

Question - when you say his batteries will last longer - is it because he will get a larger motor or that it is 24 volt? I am debating between a 55 pound 12 volt set up vs an 80 pound 24 volt system for my Smokercraft Promag 161...would i get better run time on the 55 pound if i hooked up two...

Using on-board charger with boat covered. Any issues?

Hi. I have bought a new boat (to me - Smokercraft Promag 161) - it comes with a 2 bank onboard charger and one deep cycle and one starting battery. Have to store it outside and covered. Any issues with using/leaving the charger on in that situation? Do I need to worry about ventilation etc...

Help to restore finish on my outboard cowling

Need advice on how to try and restore finish on my 2006 20 hp Honda outboard. Picture attached. This summer I covered my outboard while outside with a clear plastic sheet for a few days. When i removed it I saw a lot of marks/cloudiness in the glossy finish on the top. They looked like some kind...

Advice Needed for Selecting a Potential Fish Ski Type Boat

Thanks for that - I'm from the frozen north here in Southern Ontario Canada. Think you are right on the size and style- tho i realize it will come with compromises. I think if i do go with one boat it will be used 80% for fishing ( mostly by me) so a 16' deep v with a floor and pedestal seats...

Advice Needed for Selecting a Potential Fish Ski Type Boat

I am thinking of trading in a couple of existing boats for one that will fit the bill as both a easily-towed fishing boat and a general purpose boat at our family (shared) cottage. Currently have an older deep v 17' fliberglass bowrider with an I/O at the cottage ( big open inland lake that can...

What can I expect from a digital trolling motor?

Currently have a transom mounted Bass Pro Prowler 55 lb motor. Have heard they aren't the best for battery useage- and i do notice i don't seem to get as much out of a size 27 battery while pushing the boat as i'd like. Before I think of investing in a newer digital/variable speed motor - all...
