    Will she perform?

We had a great time. This was simply a test run, to get a better idea of how I wanted to lay the boat out. I learned two things, I must have a tunnel installed, and sitting down to run the tiller, is not an option.

Adding float pods and a short tunnel?

Been building on a 1446 with a 30/20 Johnson. When I finally got it on the water, I found that the foot would hit bottom and kick the motor back. I decided to buy a Hobart 190 and go solid aluminum everything. Going to make the transom solid aluminum, build a casting deck, add a short tunnel...

    Garage tile over my deck?

I will definitely keep a cover over the boat. I also think It is slip resistant, being that it is designed to have oil and water sit on it. On top of all that, it will look super clean in the boat. My only concern about not fastening it down, is the wind sucking it out. But, if I keep the cover...

    Garage tile over my deck?

I have scoured the interwebs, and can not find a description of someone putting garage tile, over a wood deck. My plan is to cover 1/2 plywood with epoxy resin, then put it down for a deck and cover that with garage tile. I will then screw it down,or simply seal the edges and let it free float...

    1446 Jet Boat Build

Here you go gents. Feels like it is dialed in. Made hard turns, went through open water chop, and through 2-3 inch water, with a 220 pound payload. No cavitation, no spin out, and very little back spray. Probably need to put a splash guard on, but for now she is solid. Now to make it sexy...

1979 Polar Kraft 1446 Catboat Build

Took the "Eliminator" out on Cushing Lake today. I loaded it down with about 160 pounds of water jugs and 50-80 pounds of lake rock. Ran it back in two shallow creeks, went over a beaver dam, mud bar, and about 20 feet of 3-4 inch water. Took it out on open water with light chop and made sharp...

    1446 Jet Boat Build

I have a build thread posted over in the boat build section, but I need some jet expert advice. Built the transom riser frame today. Pinned it all together with stainless screws, until I can test the motor height. Once I feel she is dialed in, I am putting it all together with 1/4 inch solid...

1979 Polar Kraft 1446 Catboat Build

Built the transom riser frame today. Pinned it all together with stainless screws, until I can test the motor height. Once I feel she is dialed in, I am putting it all together with 1/4 inch solid rivets, and covering it up with diamond plate. With the motor on, the transom has absolutely no...

1979 Polar Kraft 1446 Catboat Build

Picked up the motor from the shop today. New fuel pump, carb kit, and a tune up. Looks like I will be building a 6 3/4 inch transom riser. Going to get it started tomorrow.

Here is the current design. Aluminum frame front casting deck, covered with diamond plate. Deck of boat covered with diamond plate. Transom riser frame built out of aluminum angle, and one sheet to cover the transom and riser from top to bottom. The sheet on the back will re riveted and welded...

1979 Polar Kraft 1446 Catboat Build

Would there be any issues with putting the fuel tank I'm the bow? Want to put a 25 gallon grayling in the middle and keep the rest open. If I could put everything in the bow, them my passenger could move around to help her plane out.

1979 Polar Kraft 1446 Catboat Build

Weight is a huge issue for me, and I also want it to look sharp. I have to transport two 200 pound men, 25 gallons of bait tank water, and 14 gallons of fuel. So, anywhere I can shave weight off, is a must. Going to definitely go with aluminum floors and framing. The more I work on it, the more...

1979 Polar Kraft 1446 Catboat Build

I looked at jack plates, but I am worried it will sit the motor to far back and cause cavitation. From what I understand, the jet foot needs to rest against the bottom of the transom.

1979 Polar Kraft 1446 Catboat Build

Wanted to start out by saying thank you to those who have provided this library of good information. I am positive this site will cut hundreds of wasted dollars and hours from my build. I am about to start converting my Polar Kraft, into a cat-fishing boat. The boats main purpose, is running...

    Will she perform?

Sorry, I replied from my phone, before I saw that you quoted from a different post.

    Will she perform?

No sir, 30 at the power head. The maximum hp for this boat is 20, so I am right there at 21 or so. I wanted a boat that would run skinny, but light enough to drag up and down a steep riverbank.
