Mine blew off the motor on the way to the river. Makes the motor way noisier. Mine is the style with two rectangular tabs at the top which slide and lock into two slots on the cowl. Not available anymore but pretty sure they were standard on various models from the late 70s and 80s.

Maybe somebody can help me out with my problem. Motor looks almost brand new but wiring was corroded when I bought it. Replaced wiring and rebuilt carb and fuel pump. Motor still surges. Swapped carb(have a parts motor) Still surges. It's a jet. Any bright ideas?
