Tuna Fishing Point Loma San Diego

I recently talked the girlfriend into trying a 3/4 day tuna fishing charter. We spent from 6AM to 8PM on the water, in an area probably 3 hours south of the Coronado Islands, and each landed a 30 lb bluefin tuna. We may be forever ruined for freshwater fishing. If this sort of thing is on...

    D-Day rifle for javelina hunt

Last year I managed to get a CMP M-1 Carbine to go with my M-1 Garand. The rifle I got was a 1942 Inland with a 5 digit serial number. I decided to take it to the range and asses it's usability as a javelina rifle for a hunt this weekend. It looks to shoot pretty true, with most of the...

    New/Improved Yamaha 25 Hp

https://2017newproducts.yamahaoutboards.com/f25.php That's the Yamaha propaganda, above. Does anyone have an opinion? My delimma is that I ordered a 16' aluminum deep-v utility boat. The Alumacraft is 285 lbs and rated for 25 hp. I tentatively chose to get a 20 hp Mercury because it comes...

    36" or 42" TM shaft

I need to order a trolling motor for a 16' Alumacraft utility v-boat. It's got a 20" transom, and a 20 hp Merc outboard. I've determined the Minn Kota Max 55# transom mount is the motor I want. The rub is in choosing the shaft length. The Cabelas salesman says a 36" is right, because it's...

Which hour/RPM meter for a new Merc 20 HP?

I ordered a new Merc 20 HP four stroke outboard, and I'm looking for suggestions on a hour meter, ideally one that reads RPM too. My dirtbike has one, and I've come to appreciate it a lot. Pic below. The new outboard is a 2 cylinder, tiller model, with power tilt & electric start. Are there...

Does anyone keep a log book for their boat?

I'm curious whether anyone keeps a log book for their boat? Combined with an hour meter, it would help track maintenance and warranty items. A guy could also keep maps of the lakes he frequents inside the log book. It would be kinda novel to review past trips and lessons learned periodically.

What's a good price point for a decent spinning rod/reel?

I'm looking to get a couple new rods & spinning reels for myself, and would appreciate some advice from the collective. My background is mostly trout fishing, from shore or in a canoe with light $30 spin casters. Historically I went cheap because I never had a lot of money to invest, and...
