    spoon design for jetboats wanted

I can’t count the number of people asking for spoon or ventilation problems on the internet. The best answer is to build your boat differently. I use the jet ski hull as a “pad” when I build. It works great and is not too hard to do.

Iam glad you said what you did, because I have been weighing both options all day and went with the 6 foot method. I am almost done cutting it out and will test fit tonight.

Ok guys, update time. I picked up two more ski's for a sweet deal. Both 1992 models. One is an xp and the other is an spi. Both skis run! One hull has a couple of deeper gouges but would still work, but I would want to fix it first for peace of mind. I am going to use the older hull I...

Does anyone know if an adhesive primer is required with 5200? Would u-418 work as well? It has the same strength, elongation, and durability specs as 5200, but is a bit thicker, which worries me some.

I have considered sponsons, but I am not sure how I would attach them. I don't really want to use trim tabs because it is another thing to get caught on. I go throung some crazy places and I think the trim tabs would get caught on something or my line would get caught in them.

I drilled out every rivet on the jet ski to separate the hull, but it looks like they are epoxied together. Can you tell this is my first jet ski rodeo? I will have to cut the top off. I am not looking forward to fiberglass everywhere. I will have to drag it out in the grass and do it. :( I...

So your fuel and battery are in the rear? I have thought about using the seat, but it would be better to use my swivel seat mounted over the motor. Thanks for the tip on the steering and 5200/tape. I am still trying to move things around in the shop so I can get some decent pics and some more...

    Alumacraft F Jet Build

I am in the process of planning, tearing it all apart, checking things out, and figuring how to rig the steering so I can still fish without a big control pole in the boat, lol. I don't really want a console, but may end up with one. I will continue to use the boat as is until I am completely...

I plan on using 3M 5200 adhesive and some stainless carriage bolts. From what I hear, 5200 does not let go.

It is 14' semi v with flat bottom in the rear. I figured it would try to porpoise, and that is why I wanted the trim nozzle. I want to keep the bow planted if I can. I am building this boat for river/shalliw water use, since I live on rivers in WI, and they can go from 15' to 6" in a blink...

Ok, here we go. I am excited to get this under way, but nervous as all get out. I picked up the jet ski today. It is a 1988 seadoo sp with a 587 rotax. I got it for $75 The motor is torn down already, and it looks like everything is there except the front cover for the flywheel/stator...

    spoon design for jetboats wanted

Older thread, I know, but had to speak up. What I am seeing for "spoons" here resemble deflector more than spoons. A spoon is very shallow and is not always the answer. The angle if the leading edge on your intake is very inportant. Too sudden or too steep will cause loss of suction and...

    Jet ski oil mix ratio

I am starting the process of putting a jet ski motor in my boat, and am looking for input on mix ratio. It is a 1988? 587 rotax. The boat had a 9.5 johnson and it ran well at 80:1, but I am seeing 40:1 recommended on seadoo's. Has anyone run a seadoo at 80:1? Why so rich?
