    Hull covering? Paint, Gluvit, Steelflex?

I have been working on my boat for a few weeks now, and am about ready to cover the hull. Doesn't leak, but am wanting to do the best I can to prevent it in the future. So I am torn on what to use. Have thought about using gluvit on the outside seam and rivets and then paint. Also thought...

New To Me Motor. Get More HP?

Hey there. I just bought an 1989 30HP Evinrude Long Shaft 2 Stroke. Doing some rebuilding and working on it. Read on an old feed here of someone upgrading their 25 Johnson up to a 35 with just a carb change out. Is it worth it? From what I gather I should be able to bump mine up to at 35HP carb...

    Transom is corroded

So I met up with my buddy who has C & C water jet business. He is gonna digitally cut my new aluminum transom and also build out my new 1.5 inch transom out of aluminum tubing. Should be awesome. Getting it all for about the same cost as wood would have cost me. Awesome!

    Convert a console to tiller

Thanks. I just figured if it was a bolt on thing I could do it. I will keep looking.

    Convert a console to tiller

Sorry man, new to the forum and didn't know how in depth to go. My boat is rated up to a 50hp, but I want it light so it can go in skinny water, so I am looking at a 25 hp for it. So size isn't a problem. I am gutting and building it out so it will be set up for tiller. This is a link to the one...

    Convert a console to tiller

How hard is it to do that? Have a good deal on a good motor that is console, but my boat is tiller, and I am not looking to change that. It is a cheap easy thing to do? Can you "engineer" it to work in a different way than it would have been originally if doing it the "right" way is expensive...

    Transom is corroded

Holy Cow Johnny. That is incredible. So that was just a few months ago. I am blown away. Honestly I wouldn't have noticed anything had you not talked about it. Good on you for healing quickly. And those Mangroves will be tasty too!

    Transom is corroded

Johnny....thanks so much for stopping by today. It was great to get my options from someone that has been there and done that. I appreciate it so much!

    Transom is corroded

Nope....didn't mean inches. Haha. It was a lot worse than I expected to begin with. Luckily as I have been cleaning it and the rest of the hull it looks like the corrosion is just on the transom panel. The only problems with the rest of the boat are dents and ugly. Haha. Gonna have to replace...

    Transom is corroded

Today I got the interior wood off the transom, so now I only have the aluminum left on the back. Well I have what is left of the aluminum. There are probably 30+ holes of different sizes and a giant hole about 1.5 ft. And I haven't even started sanding it down. I am not sure that it is...

    Transom is corroded

Dang.....that is exactly what I am gonna do. All that makes sense to me. I just didn't know the process with aluminum. Thanks so much. So I would use the POR-15 as the wet out instead of resin. That is a great idea man. Instead of bondo I will use Total Fair instead though. It is built for this...

    Transom is corroded

Never used it. Will it work at stopping corrosion on aluminum? I would rather avoid major surgery and try and make it work for a while. Was thinking today I could sand down that transom aluminum on the inside and out till I get rid of everything nasty. I could then paint it with at stuff. Then I...

    Transom is corroded

This morning when it got light out I went out to investigate. The rear of the boat is welded on to begin with. Not riveted. So my options are either cut off the back and weld in a new one, or do something closer to what I said in the last post.

    Transom is corroded

I know that replacing the aluminum would probably be the best solution, but had another thought that I know would last a long time and wanted to see what you guys thought. I am not married to any of these things yet, just looking at different ways to do it and seeing what would give me the best...

    Transom is corroded

Well I have done a ton of work on fiberglass boats, but this is my first step into aluminum. Is there a place to learn about types of rivets and what kind to use? It doesn't scare me to replace it all, just want to do it right and need to know how to do it.

    Transom is corroded

Definitely need one. Would riveting in a new one like yours be better or would getting a sheet welded in be better? I have a friend that welds aluminum and will do it for free if I want.

    Transom is corroded

Hey there new friends. I am new to the forum, and excited to learn. I just picked up a 17' polar that I am going to convert into a flats fishing boat for inshore salt water fishing down here in the Tampa area. When I got it, it had two sheets of plywood sandwiched on the inside and outside of...
