    fish finder battery

Just a thought/ As most fish finders run off 12 volts, where to put the battery can be a challenge, especially if it's a lead/acid type. Why not just use a 12 volt battery pack originally made for a cordless drill? Either ni cad or Li Ion. They seem to be infinately rechargeable, don't leak, and...

    Aluminum "Kayak"

I have an oppotunity to buy a 8 foot johnboat hull for $50. I was thinking of making it into a hand launch boat for one specific area. I'm too chicken to go the kayak route. The problem is that it's just a bare hull with no seats.I'd have to make a seat out of aluminum and secure it to the sides...

    Decking "Outside the Box

Reading all the posts here on how to add a floor or deck, it seems that many people go way overboard on designs and work involved. Casting Decks

Maybe i'M old fashioned or just nuts,,,,,,,,, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,, What is the facination here with putting casting decks on the bow of fishing boats? Most of the threads here deal with this subject, well, a lot of them anyway. Why do you take a perfectly stable 14 to 16 foot tin boat with plenty...

    Going back in time

Back when I was in my teens and cars had fins, there were advertisements in Outdoor Life about a trolling fin that you clamped to the transom of a small boat. It was shaped like the fin of a fish and you moved it back and forth to propel your boat. Anybody have or remember there things?

    Tiny Tinny

I'm getting a 10 ft johnboat free. I want to make it into a hand launchable lil boat for secluded water. I want to mount wheels on the back so I can wheel it down to the water using kayak launch sites. Don't care for canoes or kayaks so the little john sounds about right. It's going to be a one...

A headache that aspirin won't cure

I enjoy finding old aluminum boats on Craigslist and restoring them to sell. There are quite a few of them to be had here in Florida. However, many of the sellers don't have a title and want to sell them with just a bill of sale. After checking with the DMV and FWC, I found out that YOU CANNOT...

    Steel Tank Re Do

I bought an old steel tank that was clean inside at a Marine surplus shop for $5. It's a nice 3 gal tank, but it it needed some sprucing up. First, I sanded it all over and put 2 coats of white primer and 3 coats of Rustoleum Red paint on it. Finally, here it is with new decals, hose, and fitting
