    Good alternative to plywood?

That proper storage is a biggie. A day or two fishing in the rain isn't going to harm marine or exterior ply or saturate floatation foam or any of the things we worry about. But sitting uncovered along the tree line through rain and especially snow with freeze thaw cycles and not enough sun and...

    Adding T-track to narrow gunwale?

On my old Lund with similar setup I decided tracks were too difficult and took up valuable space. Instead I found V-Lock (v-lock.com) to do the trick for what I needed. The starboard version is strong enough for most stuff and the system makes things easy to mount, dismount, and move around...

Marine Grade Plywood - an editorial

I've found the best way to get good marine ply is to buy from a wooden boat builder/restorer. They know who to buy from and can't afford to use the crap. I'm lucky there are enough wooden boats on Lake Minnetonka that the MSP area has the market to support restorers and I can get a sheet of good...

    Odd tools.

Same. It's a superb saw. My only issue is it had a glitch that triggered to stop mechanism twice, ruining two blades. But sawstop customer service was superb and we figured it out and fixed it.

    Solid state marine battery

I think LiFePO4 is all anybody needs for current recreational fishing boat tech. The promise of sodium batteries or solid state is likely to be realized in effective electric outboards.

    Solid state marine battery

Solid state (solid electrolyte) batteries are a thing and being worked on aggressively by transport companies as they'll be a huge leap in range for cars, etc. But I'd be wary until you see them in common use in other commercial applications. As others have said, let somebody else work the bugs...

    Flooring Options

Coosa is very dusty and far worse than FG batting for tiny glass slivers. For the most part I worked it outside or with good dust collection in the shop. Dust mask, rubberized gloves, long shirt and pants, etc for PPE. I just hate days of FG itch. I've been sensitized to most wood dust over the...

    Flooring Options

You're right on cost. I went with Coosa because it works like wood and as a long time woodworker I feel confident I know what I'm doing with it and I have all the tools. Al would cost me more because I'd need some tools to do what I wanted to do. But my framing is all Al because most wood just...

    Flooring Options

I had good luck buying marine ply from a boat builder/refitter in the area. If you buy the Lloyd's certified stuff you should be ok. Price might be more but per your experience--worth it in the long run.

    Flooring Options

Don't know where you are but you should try some of the industrial suppliers too. While I decided against Al for my project, I found I could get 12x4 sheets delivered for less than a 4x8 will call from the local "supermarkets."

    Older Lund…WC14?

Once had a 25 on my C-14. It was frightening without a person in the bow. It's a smaller craft than the WC. I use a small, 230CCA motorcycle battery to crank my tohatsu 9.8. Much easier to tuck away and manage. Going strong after 3 years. Lights, etc. on a small lithium.

    Flooring Options

Just used 1/2 Coosa for a casting deck. I gave it a layer of 6 oz fiberglass on each side and It's solid on a 16" span. As far as aluminum, there's no reason to even consider 1/4". My entire boat is 1/16, and you could go with that if you have foam under it. .090 would work fine if you don't...

    Boat seam sealant?

I'm with DaleH. I've had very good luck with West Systems G/flex 650 epoxy. I've got a 1966 Lund C-14 that spent most of its life upside down on the beach through MN winters as well as summers when it wasn't in use. When I brought it home it leaked about half gallon per hour through numerous...

14' Lund -- My Build Thread

I've had good luck in some instances using spray adhesive or PSA backed sandpaper. Stick to hull and after cutting close to fit, sand against the hull itself to fine tune. I've done that a few times to match complex curves.

    Older Lund…WC14?

I'm the owner of my dad's '66 Lund C-14. Different construction and the supports are required. I agree with Airshot that they aren't necessary for your newer WC. In my last trip of the year in northern MN. Will be cutting out the middle bench this winter as my last major mod. It's small. It's...

    Battery and charger

I turned the old Lead Acid battery into the backup battery for my sump pump. Perfect use.

    Battery and charger

Not sure, airshot. My main battery manufacturer (Amped Outdoors) lists recommended chargers. I also picked up a 50Ah TimeUSB battery during the Prime sale ($105 shipped!) that I'm using for my accessory battery since I've added some amperage with upgraded finder and live view. Thill's info...

    Battery and charger

Some chargers do, some don't. NOCO doesn't. Pro Mariner and MinnKota digital do. May be others, these I know about.

    Battery and charger

Yeah, fair to be concerned with your specific battery and BMS. Wire size was not suggested in any way. I believe the BMS "talk" to each other and start balancing cells. No, it did not dump at max amps. In fact, I did not see any large current flow on my monitor. Don't recall details, but I...
