    Pondering trolling motor battery selection

I have a 1970 Gregor 12ft vhull with the 62lb Newport vessel. Running a 100ah lifepo. No problems so far. Hasn't left me stranded yet. I also have a noco on board charger so I just have to plug the boat into an extension cord to charge. With 2 people it gets me up to about 4mph or so.

Yes the serial number had a 25 in it, assumed it was a 25hp.

No progress... found another boat/trailer for $250. I couldn't pass it up. 1968 starcraft. Does anyone know how many HP this engine is? I'm guessing 15-20? I literally just picked it up, so I haven't done my due diligence yet on this.

I hear ya, this boat is rated at 750lbs, so I can still have 2 adults on board comfortably.

    New Here - 1970 Gregor V Hull

Progress... working on the battery area, still waiting on a few parts, but mounted a small battery gauge next to the switches and mounted a distribution block on the underside of the panel. I also added a 62lb thrust trolling motor. I need another piece of aluminum to support it like the...

    New Here - 1970 Gregor V Hull

Progress... Started to wire the lights, bilge pump, switch panel and battery tray area. Also added a plastic grommet for the fuel line, and will probably add another one for the bilge pump tube.

    New Here - 1970 Gregor V Hull

Progress... made some covers for gas tank and electronics. Added a bimini top. Things are shaping up. I want to add color to the outside of the boat, or maybe a vinyl graphic, I'm not sure yet.

    New Here - 1970 Gregor V Hull

Thanks so much. It's my first boat. I've got the itching to make a fishing rig now after finding tiny boat Nation, lol. This boat is just for cruising around the lake, so I wanted to keep it classy on a budget. So far I have invested about $1,300.00 total in boat and trailer. I have all the...

    New Here - 1970 Gregor V Hull

Update, primered, painting (1/2 done). Need to add gray stripe and top rail pinstripe. Mahogany is sanded and ready for linseed oil. Then Bimini top install, and other accessories. I still need to fabricate a cover for the gas tank and battery. I have the carpet and wood ready to go.

    New Here - 1970 Gregor V Hull

I used only 1 - 2x4 for the floor support. The bottom is wrapped for no contact. The mahogany is actually very light. It is definetly not heavier than any of these bass boat conversions. The mahogany takes the place of plywood. Maybe added 150lbs tops. I did figure out that the motor was a...

    New Here - 1970 Gregor V Hull

Progress. 80% done with the wood. Only thing left to build is compartments to house the battery and gas tank. Debating whether to cut into 5he bench to fit a 6gal or just install a 3gal behind the seat. I'm not building a bass boat with this. It's more of an all purpose boat since I have 3...

Yes, runs great. Was told 6.6hp evinrude, but still unsure. The original owner even made a contraption you clamp onto the motor with a hose to run the motor out of water.
