    Best waterproof sealant for subfloor?

Thank you for the response! It's all aluminum. Hull is painted, floor is bare. I can get paint off most of the hull, but down where the seal is needed, getting all paint stripped off would be difficult. Does any of this change your response? Thanks again.

    Best waterproof sealant for subfloor?

I am installing a subfloor and floor in my jon boat, and want to waterproof the floor's edges next to the inside hull. 5200? Flex Glue? Any regular waterproofing silicone? Sanding down to bare metal could be an issue on the inside hull walls just below the new floor, so anything that adheres to...

    GOOP Coat It Cure Time

Using GOOP Coat It on the lower end of the boat on the transom, outside of boat. Put on 1st coat, no problem. Cured well. Went to apply 2nd coat, and did not seem to cure after nearly 5 days. Was not wet, but seemed to stay slightly tacky. Weight mix seemed fine (7 parts A, to 1 part B) , just...

Best sealer for outside jon boat on an edge. of back wall and hull.

Have a small leak inside of the boat on the lower left back wall in th absolute lower left corner. There is a metal seam type sheet sticking off at the floor the length of the back left wall. I cannot see behind it, but suspect that a leak into the boat from somewhere behind it. I filled the...

    Removing Foam from Bench Seats

Greetings: I am adding upgrade/updating my jon boat, and now that I am done sealing up rivets, etc, it is time to move onto the sub floor. While cleaning up the floor it is clear that I had/have mice in the bench seats foam. I am not sure if I can get rid of them with the foam still there. I...

Side bench/gun storage to withstand weight?

I’m modding a Jon boat, and wanting to add a side bench that will also act as gun storage. I’m trying to balance weight and sturdiness. I’m installing an aluminum sub floor, but thinking a matching aluminum side bench with storage might not be sturdy enough for some big boys. I,e. 250-300+ lbs...

    Paint over Gluvit

I am getting ready to paint over Gluvit to avoid UV issues. It is an expoxy. Should I be using a primer on it first. If so, anyone in particular? Thank you for any insight.

Gluvit over small amount of 5200

Wondering how soon is safe to apply Gluvit after applying small amounts of 5200. I have replaced some leaky rivets on the keel of my jon boat. When I did I applied some 5200 to the rivets and holes they were being installed in. Only a small amount of 5200, nothing "Caulked" on. I know the 5200...

Problems with rivet ans sealant prop

Thank you for the responses. I am going to try a chemical remover, then sand with 80 grit. I am putting a sub floor over the places sealed with Gluv It, but may add a coat of rustoleom. I read all paint needs to be removed in a number of places for Gluv It to adhere like it should.

Problems with rivet ans sealant prop

I getting very frustrated. My intention is to replace a few leaky rivets and the seal a bunch more with Gluv It on the interior of the boat. The problem I am seeing is that I believe you need to prep the aluminum for Gluv It by removing the paint around the rivets. I have heard the best way to...

    Surface Drive Motor Stand

Does anybody have any plans, or pictures of a DIY surface drive motor stand? I prefer to build one than pay for one and the only examples I can seem to find on the Internet or in forums have expired so nothing comes up. I find plenty on outboard motors, but not sure if there needs to be...

    Seal leaks around rivets.

I am getting ready to mod a jon boat into a duck hunting boat. I am about to start on a subfloor, and have a few very small leaks around rivets. The rivets themselves do not look cracked. Nothing that leaks much, or fast in the slightest. Certainly will not take on fast enough to sink, but...
