I’m currently stripping off all the old paint on my boat before painting. Do I need to sand the bare aluminum or just wipe with acetone and spray with self etching primer? I still have paint to remove but Here's a pic

According to the registration card it’s a 1946 but Google says StarCraft didn’t make aluminum boats until 1952 so I’m at a loss here.

Just got a StarCraft aluminum V Hull and found this group. Thanks for all the info.
