Got the thermostat replaced and sealed up nicely hopefully it will hold out for a while longer.

What I find a bit humerous is that the inside of the water jacket actually looks cleaner and less curroded than the exterior of the engine. The 20 years of sitting out in the open really had a heavy toll on the engine. Tho she runs pretty good for the shape shes in, she is in pretty poor...

Yeah this is good stuff, maybe someday ill find some money to do something like this. It would be really beneficial if I could do it right and make it look good.

Can you put it in on the inside of the hull? If you can it would eliminate the rest of the plug extruding down on the bottom of the boat. Just an idea

You should have no problem getting new cables to fit your old engine, most of them are universal. 3/4 ply might be a bit much for the floor tho, thats gonna add a lot of weight.
