    Trolling Motor wiring help!

Brine, you should be good to go with the #10 Here is a link to a post I made in another thread that includes a link to wire size and length. Hopefully this will help you https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18499

    Modding my SEARS 1972 12ft Aluminum V-Hull

Awesome, I have the same boat. All the way down to the green paint on the floor. Can't wait to see how yours comes out. I did a quick low budget build on mine this year and posted some picks https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=18498 Might give you some ideas on what or what not...

    Boat security

I put all my gear in my truck box when I'm not on the water (that includes trailering). Boat is stored in the garage when not in use. If I stop, I try to park where I can keep an eye on everything, but a thief is a thief and if they see a chance to take something, they will try.

Crazy weekend for me and my family

I can't count the number of times I've done that :LOL2:

Can anyone make me an electrical diagram?

The chance of a short to ground on a boat is realitively low since boats aren't chassis grounded, but since there is a chance, I always protect my power circuits with fuses or circuit breakers. Especially if the power and ground wires are running in the same conduit

Can anyone make me an electrical diagram?

And make sure that your wire to the TM and buss bars is protected by a fuse
  7. M

Bus Bars, Wriring and all that

Correct, every load should be protected with a fuse! There is no need to go nuts (oversize) with wire sizes, but in most cases, people use too small of a wire for the current load they are trying to power up and as mentioned above, sometimes they over fuse the wire. In theory, if a power wire...

    "Pond X strikes again(new PB)

Nice! Can't wait til the season opens up here
  9. M

Bus Bars, Wriring and all that

A bus bar gives you a point to attach multiple wires to one feed, as long as there is continuity from one end to the other, it doesn't matter where the wires are connected Select a gauge of wire that will support the total current draw of all the circuits (plus 50%)and make sure you use a fuse...

    Rhyan Craft: Now BRINE CRAFT

Brine, I just went through this thread and your boat build. Rather impressive engineering! I am definately going to steal some of your ideas when I redo my Hooptie project. Lots of great information and out of the box thinking. Great job!

Car Battery to collect night crawlers?

I remember seeing people "worm growling" had to look around to find the info. Here is a link https://www.loe.org/shows/segments.html?programID=09-P13-00011&segmentID=8

number of people = the vessel length in feet times the vessel width in feet divided by 15 For example if your boat is 14 feet long and 4 feet wide, your boat's capacity would be 14 x 4 / 15, which is 56. To figure out the passenger weight capacity is to take the formula above and figure out...

    12ft V boat weight capacity?

I found this formula one day that might help you number of people = the vessel length in feet times the vessel width in feet divided by 15 For example if your boat is 12 feet long and 4 feet wide, your boat's capacity would be 12 x 4 / 15, which is 3.2 To figure out the passenger weight...

    My Hooptie! 12' Sears Semi-V

Thanks. I stumbled onto this site by accident. I guess I wasn't using the right keywords when I did my search. :LOL2: This was my first attempt and from the information and ideas I gathered so far, I have already made plans for a complete re-do next fall.

    Bow light 14 ga?

Most likely Yes. It depends on if they are wired in series or parallel. Safest way is parallel, that way each lamp has it's own power and ground feed. (If one lamp burns out, you still have the other lit). You can use OHM's law to calculate the circuit or use an AMP meter to measure the current...

    Bow light 14 ga?

Here is a chart I use to determine what wire gage to use when wiring a 12 volt system, I try to use a wire size that gives me plenty of "wiggle" room with the amp draw. Set the fuse size smaller than the max current to wire will handle, but high enough to handle the current requirements of the...

    My Hooptie! 12' Sears Semi-V

So I learned some lessons on the first build and I’m sure that I will learn some more once I get out on the water and put this boat to use. So far, the things I would change/enhance on the current project are: • Use aluminum “L“ and “U” channel to build the frame for the casting deck. It is much...
