    Can I safely do this?

Not real sure where to post this question so I'll put it here. Family/Friends are going to Tablerock Lake for the 4th holiday and I may go down Friday. I'm considering taking the boat with me to do some fishing. But I don't want to drag her 4.5 hours at 11mpg just to find out I really shouldn't...

How fast does your boat go?

According to the speedo on my fish finder I run 22mph. But I'm not sure how accurate those are really. 1999 welded Tracker 1652 Grizzly 25hp Mercury w/6.5 gallon fuel cell Trolling motor 1 Trolling & 1 Cranking battery Around 50lbs gear including anchors Approximately 400lbs passengers

    Browning HP4000 & HP3000 spinning reels

By chance would anyone know where to get new bearings for these? Mine have taken to squeaking on the retrieval. Thorough cleanings have no effect. From what I have found its a Zebco reel but I'm having problems with actually finding the bearings for them. They are by no means the top of the line...

    Your opinion is........

Thanks for all your replies and opinions. Depending on finances it may be the 1754. The cost for 1754 is $2,999 + $100 freight fee where the 1860 is $3,249 + $500 freight fee. I'm going to see if I can pick one up cheaper if I go to the Tracker plant and pick it up there. If I can avoid the...

    Your opinion is........

Hey all, I'm considering a new jon boat but can't seem to make up my mind. Looking at the Tracker 1754 and the Tracker 1860. Would the extra 1'4" length and 6" width really be worth the extra $500? Any opinion on the subject will be appreciated. Thanks

Much respect to you for restoring your dads boat !! My dad was my hunting/fishing buddy until he developed Alzhiemers then passed away. I take his last fishing reel with me to our favorite lake every time I go there just to have a bit of him in the boat with me. Best of luck on your project !!

    14' Gamefisher in progress

I have an '89 model 14' Gamefisher. I'm considering doing a setup similar to yours. How stable is it on the decks out in the water? Thanks

    Towing your boat

Years ago I towed the 12' Duracraft I had with an '86 Celebrity. That boat was heavy built to start with and I had a 3/4" front deck and floors in it plus battery 6.6 gallon fuel cell and 70lbs worth of Yamaha 8 strapped on the back of it. Only problem I ever had was going up steep grades at...

    Buster's 1966 14' Foremost

Looks really good and at the rate you're going you'll be done in no time !! But then again are we ever really done with modifications ?? There is the "snowball" effect and I've learned that very well with my Mustang II. I'm going to assume it works the same way with boats too......And probably...

    Buster's 1966 14' Foremost

Ah some days are like that. I learned my lesson on tool kits the hard way too. Went out a couple years back in my old boat and made a mad dash up river. After fishing one spot went to fire up again and she was a goner. Why do sparkplugs wait until you are a few miles away from the dock to foul...

Ahhhh the wonders of legitimate storage

Wow that looks great !! I have several pounds of baits also but use maybe 5 different ones. In hindsight to what lures I've bought I really believe they were designed to catch me.....not fish lol

Cutting hole in factory seat full of foam, see a good way.

That's an excellent way to completely destroy a terminal on the battery. Could result in a trip to ER with an embarrassing explanation to the doc too. I use holesaws and knives. Better to spend a little extra time than to burn your eyes out of your skull.

When covering a gas tank, you might need a fire extingusher.

I actually carry two extinguishers. One fore and the other aft. Never know which end I'll be fishing from and Murphys Law likes to play dirty tricks sometimes lol.

    Cutting aluminum sheet

If there's a metal fabrication shop close ask them how much they'd charge to shear it for you. May be a minimal charge and save a lot of hassle. I do all my cutting on a shear and get great results on dimensions.

motor dies when going from forward gear to neutral

I tried this with my Yamaha today. If the fuel line is connected to my tank in the wrong direction I can get it to start. But after a run it stalls out and is impossible to restart it. Maybe yours is accidentally on backward ? Just a shot in the dark lol.
