Exactly, Shimano reels are notorious for being overlubed and they'll usually perform a bit better over time.

YET, she doesn't keep a running tally YET. lol.

I'd go with an ugly stick spinning set up, just because he's young and accidents do happen. :)

Daiwa Steez Compile-X 7ft 1in. I had my first one last year and sold it off in hopes of finding something better, but I just ended up getting another one.

Just joined recently and wanted to say hello, I'm actually gonna be picking up my first boat in the next month or so. It's a 12' V with a 4hp and 30lb thrust TM. :)
