I have a 1988 Merc. 60 HP, it was running sept. of 2010 a Mechanic got it running, now all it does is hum at the starter, I was told to tap on the starter untill it starts or turns over, will this hurt the starter. All the power trim does is humms when trying to raise and lower the motor...
