    First time boat owner

Looks like my Duracraft. 14.5 ft long 32" bottom mod v, 1967 model. Mine has a capacity/ID plate on the inside of the right bow, and has the HIN and production date stamped on the outside of the front end. Try stripping the paint off the bow and look for numbers stamped in the hull. I'm getting...

    Newbie Questions about v-bottoms

Man, books could be written trying to answer all your questions, and no two books would be the same. The answers to most of the quesitons you asked really would only be opinion. That said, I'll give you mine. Others will differ. My first tin was a 14ft v-bottom, and I absolutely hated it. It...

New Rig Finally Complete - 1652 Lowe Roughneck

Looks great. I've just gotta know how you trained that dog to run the trolling motor.

Really cheap way to light up your boat!

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I was all butthurt or anything. I was just trying to share a cheap way to do something, like you said. I fully understand that sponsorship is what keeps forums alive and able for us to share info. I did go to their website and look around. Sure, the kits may be...

Excuse me for trying to share some useful information. I thought that's what this forum was for.

Really cheap way to light up your boat!

Hey guys, I've seen lots of posts on here about adding led lights to the inside of boats for night fishing. I thought I'd share this info with you. This is how I'm going to do mine. I've been meaning to do this to my motorcycle for a long time now, but just haven't gotten around to it. The great...

    replacing old wood.

I'm in the process of replacing the transom in a new jon myself. New to me anyway. It's a really old 14.5' x 32" duracraft. It's in pretty good condiditon, just needs a little love. You're correct. The copper in pressure treated wood will react with the aluminum and eat it away. My transom is...

    Fish attractants pros or cons

I've only tried baitmate from walmart. I put a few pumps in each worm bag. Can't say that it gets me more strikes, but when I've just put on a new worm, the bass do seem to hit it a little harder and hold on longer than with a plain worm.

    Soft plastic storage

+1 for the BPS finesse binder. I love mine. Time for another one though, I've stuffed the one I have and need more space. I keep all my stuff for plastics in it: hooks, weights, etc

Youinns try the sweet tea yet?

AMEN brother. We've got the best of everything. Great fishing, great hunting, southern good ole boys and girls, and the SEC! This reminds me of a cherry LT I had during my first tour in Iraq. He was from New Jersey that volunteered to go with our unit down here. He kept a notebook in his...

Noob with 14ft semi-v and lotsa questions.

All the smaller lakes in the Fayetteville area. Lake Fayetteville, Sequoyah, Bob Kidd. I haven't tried Lake Wedington, Lake Prairie Grove or Lake Lincoln yet. I hear that Lake Lincoln is great. No gas motors allowed there though. I tried Beaver once, but it's just too dangerous in my little...

Noob with 14ft semi-v and lotsa questions.

Well, due to the cost of moving and the fact that I'm really wanting something more like a 1648, I'm going to leave it as is for now. I repaired the front part with several rivets and it worked fine on my fishing trip a few days ago. I might still pull out the middle bench and make the cooler...

Braided line sucks! I'm going back to Stren.

Just tried it 3 times. Used the clinch knot mentioned above with the extra overhand knots. First time it broke off at the eye of the hook. Knot still intact, it snapped where the line was through the eye of the hook. Second time it broke off there was about a foot of line attached to the hook...

Braided line sucks! I'm going back to Stren.

No, I haven't tried that. Rod guides are good. It's a fairly new rod that I've taken pretty good care of.

    DropShoting

Thanks for that. I was wondering what drop shotting was myself. Keep seeing all kinds of stuff about it, but never anything describing how to do it. Guess I won't be trying it though, since most of my fishing is in smaller lakes that aren't all that deep.

Braided line sucks! I'm going back to Stren.

Clinch knot is what I've always used, but I also tried a palomar. Like I said, it was breaking at least several inches above the knot.

    lure suggestions?

My favorites: Plastic worms (texas rigged) - various sizes, styles, and colors. Spinnerbaits Scum Frog Buzzbait Jig n Pig Oddly enough, I've never had much success with crankbaits, so I rarely use them. But that's just me. I know plenty of people who don't use anything but crankbaits.

    Best crappie jig EVER!

They definitely catch fish. The clear tube makes the painted jigheads sort of "glow" when they're in the water, and the clear tails look suprisingly realistic. I've caught bream, crappie, largemouth/smallmouth/white bass, and even catfish on them. It's like a box of chocolates. I do cringe a...

Braided line sucks! I'm going back to Stren.

I know there's lots of people out there that use it and swear by it, but it's just not for me. I will say that I did like how much more sensitive it was. But I didn't like that I could feel it dragging through the guides on my rod. It also rubbed my fingers raw from holding tension on the line...

Replacing Recoil Rope on 75 Johnson Seahorse 15 HP Motor?

It's not hard at at all. Just remove the center bolt of the starter assembly and remove the whole unit. Be careful to not separate the pieces, or the spring will come flying out at you. Wind the new rope around the spool and replace the assembly. You can possibly do this without even removing...
